RESOLUTION 2008-13
CITY OF WEST UNIVERSITY PLACE
RESOLUTION PROPOSING A TAX RATE AND SCHEDULING PUBLIC HEARINGS;
AND CONTAINING FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATING TO THE SUBJECT
Section 1. The City Council formally proposes a combined ad valorem tax rate for 2008 of
$36.14 cents per $100 in valuation. This proposal shall be placed on the agenda of a future
meeting as an action item, subject to the hearing scheduled below.
Section 2. A public hearing on the proposed tax rate is hereby scheduled for September 22,
2008 in the Council Chambers, 3800 University Blvd., West University Place, Texas 77005
during the City Council meeting set to begin at 6:30 p.m. The City Secretary shall make
arrangements for the meeting and shall provide notice as required by law. A hearing on the
proposed municipal budget is hereby called for the same meeting.
Section 3. A second public hearing on the proposed tax rate is hereby scheduled for October
13, 2008 in the Council Chambers, 3800 University Blvd, at 6:30 p.m.
Section 4. All prior resolutions and parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby
repealed to the extent of the conflict only.
Section 5. If any work, phrase, clause, sentence, paragraph, section or other part of this
resolution or the application thereof to any person or circumstance, shall ever be held to be
invalid or unconstitutional by any court of competent jurisdiction, the remainder of this
resolution and the application of such work, phrase, clause, sentence, paragraph, section or
other part of this resolution to any other persons or circumstances shall not be affected
thereby.
Section 6. The City Council officially finds, determines and declares that a sufficient written
notice of the date, hour, place and subject of each meeting at which this resolution was
discussed, considered or acted upon was given in the manner required by the Texas Open
Meetings Law, as amended, and that each such meeting has been open to the public as
required by law at all times during such discussion, consideration and action. The City
Council ratifies, approves and confirms such notices and the contents and posting thereof.
Section 7. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption and signature.
