ORDINANCE NO. 224
AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR DISCOUNr ON TAXES
PAID I,N ADVANCE .AND ON OR BEFORE SPECIFI C DATES;
AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH,
AND PROVIDING THAT '!HIS ORDINANCE SHALL TAKE EFFECT'
AND BE IN FORCE Th1MEDIATELY FROM AND AFTER TEE
DATE OF ITS PASSAGE AND APPROVAL.
It appear~ng to the City Commission that additional fundw
will be required immediately for the purpose of providing
necessary funds for current expenses of the City; and

It further appearing to the City Commission that a large
amount of ad valorem taxes will be cwing and due the City for
the year of 1941, and that immediate use of a large part of
duoh taxes maY'be obtained by granting a discount on such taxes
if paid in advance and on or before December 3, 1941..; and
b-
It further appearing to the City Commission that it would
be to the best interest of the City as well as of its citizens
that such discount be allowed if paid on or before December 3,
1941, such discount to apply during the tine and in the amount
as hereinafter set out.
'THEREFORE, BE :rr ORDAINED BY THE. OITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF WEST U~IVERSI TY PLACE, TEXAS:
SEC'J;ION l"
That, on all ad valorem taxes, due the City of .west Universiy
Place, Texas, for the year 1941, there shall be and there is hereby
gra.nted and allowed a discount of three (3~) per cent on such
taxes if paid on or before October 3, 1941; two (210) per cent
discount on such ad valorem taxes if paid between the dates of
October 3, 1941 to and including .November 3, 1941; one (110) per
cent discount on .such ad valorem taxes if paid between the dates
of November 3, 1941 to and including December 3, 1941, and the
City Treasurer and the Tax Assessor and Collector are hereby
authorized and directed to allow said discount and issue tax
receipts for the amount collected in the usual manner. Said
discount to apply only when such ad .valorem taxes for the year
1941 are paid in full.
SECTION II.
All Ordinances or parts""-oro-rdTmnces in conflict herewith
.insofar as they conflict are herewith repealed.

SECTION III.
This ordinance shall take effect and be in force immediately
from and af.ter the date of its passage and approval.
