HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrd 206 - city attorney compensation (- I r "-..----' ." 149 ORDINANCE NO. 206 AN OHDINANCE PRESCRIBING COMPENSATION OF TEE CITY ATTORNEY OE' TEE CI'l'Y OF WEST UNIVEHSI'lTf PLACE, TEXAS, AND PRESCRIBING THE DUTI~:S IN CONNECTION THEREWTfH; PROVIDING THAT ALL ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN COl\1FLICT HERWNITH ARE REPEALED; PROVIDING THAT THIS ORDINANCE SHALL TAKE EFFECT AND BE IN FORCE IM]llliDIATELY FROM AND AFTER THE DATE OF ITS PASSAGE .AND APPROVAL. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF WEST WEST UNlVERS ITY PLACE, TEXAS: SECTI ON I The City Attorney of the City of West University Place, Texas, shall receive as compensation for his services a retainer fee of Sixty ($60.00) Dollars per month, payable in equal in- stallments, semi-monthly, and such additional compensation or fees as may be approved by the City Commission. SECTION II The City Attorney shall discharge the duties prescribed in Section 3, of Article XII, of the Home Rule Cbarter of the Qity of West University Place, but such compensation as set out in Section I hereof Shall only cover and include the City Attor- ney's services for attending meetings of the City Commission; preparing and presenting to the City Commission all routine Ordinances and Resolutions as may be required from tfume to time; and pepresenting the City of West University Place in all offenses against the Ordinances of the City and offenses against the laws of the State of Texas, filed in the Corporation Court of the City of West University Place, Texas. SECTION III The City Attorney shall receive such compensation or fees as may be approved py the City Commission for the prosecution or defense, as the case may be, of all civil suits or cases to which the City may be a party, such compensation or fee shall be in addition to the retainer fee provided for in Section I hereof. SECTION IV All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict herewith, insofar as they conflict, are hereby repeals. SECT ION V If any section of this Ordinance be, for any reason, de- clared unconstitutional or illegal the remaining 'Section or sections shall nevertheless remain in full force and effect ..1 --'.1 .
