ORDINANCE ALLOWING CLAIMS

THE STATE OF TEXAS
COUNTY OF HARRIS Q
CITY OF WEST UNIVERSITY PLACE.
On this, the 2 th day of July , 1940, the
Board of Commissioners of the Oity of 'Nest University Place,
Texas, convened in at the regular meeting
place thereof,with the following members present, to wit.
Mayor ,
Commissioner,
Commissioner,
Oity Secretary;
at which time the following, among other business, was transacted,
to wit:
Commissioner Jones introduced a proposed ordinance and
moved its adoption. The motion was seconded by Commissioner
Herschel The motion, carrying with it the adoption of
said ordinance, prevailed by the following vote:
Ayes: Commissioners Jones and Herschel; and
Noes: None.
The Ordinance is as follows:
"AN ORDINANCE
AUDITING AND ALLOWING CLAIMS FOR INDEBTEDNESS
INCURRED IN IMPROVING AND EXTENDING THE SEWER
SYSTIM OF SAID CITY, AUTHORIZING THE DELIVERY
OF ?CITY OF WEST UNIVERSITY PLACE SEWER IM-
PROVE ENT WARRANTS? TO EVIDENCE SAID INDEBTED-
NESS; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY."
WHEREAS, the following claims, duly verified, incurred in
iitproving and extending the sewer system of said City of West
University Place, Texas, said work being done under the direct
supervision of the Board of Commissioners of said City, have been
presented to the Board of Commissioners of said City of West
University Place., T e x a s;

WHEREAS, said claims have been duly audited and found to be
correct and unpaid obligations of said City of West University
Place, Texas; -and
WHEREAS, all of said claims are held and owned by Fenner and
Beane of Houston, Texas; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners desires to allow said
claims and to authorize the delivery of "City of West University
Place Sewer Improvement Warrants" to evidence said indebtedness;
THEREFORE BE -IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OR COMMMSSIONERS OF
THE CITY OF WEST UNIVERSITY PLACE, TEXAS;
Section 1. That the claims hereinabove listed for indeb-
tedness incurred . in. improving and extending the sewer system of
said City to the amount of $ 10,000.00 , are hereby allowed and
declared to be the lawful indebtedness of said City of West Uni-
versity Place, Texas.
Section 20 That to evidence said indebtedness there shall
be executed and delivered to Fenner and Beane of Houston, Texas,
"City of West University Place Sewer Improvement Warrants ", num-
bers ands, each inclusive,
in the denomination of x., each, aggregating
dated June lst, 1939, authorized by an ordinance passed by,the
Board of Commissioners of said City on the 7th day of July, 1939,
which ordinance is recorded in the Minutes of said Board of
Commissioners.
Secion 3. That .the City of West University Plate, Texas, has
received full value and consideration for said warrants numbers
Section 4. The fact that it is necessary to arrange for the
payment of said claims without delay, and an urgent necessity
exists for the Board of Commissioners to act at once, creates an
emergency, and the rule requiring that ordinances be read at more
than one meeting is hereby dispensed with, and this ordinance shall
take effect and be in force from and after its passage and approval..
