'166 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 145 , REGUL- ATING VEHICULAR AND PEDESTRAIN TRAFFIC AT CERTAIN STREET AND BOULEVARD INTERSECTIONS 4 "dITHIN THE COR- PORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF WEST UNIVERSITY PLACE, TEXAS: BY AMENDING SECTION 1, SO AS TO INCLUDE THE INTERSECTION WITH BUFFALO SPEEDWAY AS A STOP STREET: BY ARMi\DING SECTION - 2, SO AS TO PROHIBIT TURNING RIGHT INTO CROSS STREET AT TIE INTERSECTION OF UNIVERSITY BOULEVARD AND EDLOE STREET WHEN THE RED OR AMBER LIGHT IS DISPLAYED FACING SUCH VEHICLE; BY ALENDING SECTION 4, SO AS TO INCLUDE THE INTER - SECTION WITH BELI,:OT"T STREET AS A STOP STREET; BY ADDING THE INTERSECTION OF PITTSBURGH AVEINUE AND BELMONT STREET AS A STOP STREET; AND PROVIDING THIS ORDINA -.NCE SHALL TAKE EFFECT AMID BE IN FORCE IlMIDIAT ELY FROM AND AFTER ITS PASSAGE AND APPROVAL. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF 001MISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF WEST UNIVERSITY PLACE, TEXAS: Sect ion 1. That Section 1 of said ordina\ be amended to read as follows: 63 That Section 2 of said ordinance be amended to read as follows: At the intersection of Edloe Street and University. Boulevard, which is here declared to be with.ih the corporate limits of the City of West University Place, and at which inter- section there has been installed a traffic light, it shall be un- lawful for any person to propel or operate, or attempt to propel or operate, any vehicle into said intersection when the red or University Boulevard, within the corporate limits of the City of Nest University Place, is hereby declared a through traffic highway, with the exception of the intersection of said Boulevard with Edloe Street, within the corporate limits of the City, at which intersection there has been installed a traffic signal light, and except that all vehicles traveling along said University Boulevard and at its intersection with Buffalo Speed- way must come to a full and complete stop before entering such intersection and shall thereafter proceed into or across said Buffalo Speedway. r At the intersection of any other street or highway with University Boulevard,, within the corporate limits of the City, it shall be unlawful for any person to propel or operate, or attempt to propel or operate, any vehicle at such intersection and into said University Boulevard without first causing said vehicle to come to a full and complete stop. There- after any such vehicle may proceed into or across said University .Boulevard. That Section 2 of said ordinance be amended to read as follows: At the intersection of Edloe Street and University. Boulevard, which is here declared to be with.ih the corporate limits of the City of West University Place, and at which inter- section there has been installed a traffic light, it shall be un- lawful for any person to propel or operate, or attempt to propel or operate, any vehicle into said intersection when the red or 64 amber light is displayed facing any such vehicle. It shall, likewise, be unlawful for any person to walk across or into said street intersection when the red or amber light is desplayed facing such pedestrain. It shall be the duty of every person,driving or operating a vehicle upon approaching such street intersection, or when said vehicle is standing at or near said street intersection for the purpose of going into or across same, to promptly - proceed into or across said street intersection upon-the appearance of the green light facing the vehicle. Pedestrains, likewise, are permitted to walk across such street intersection when the green light is displayed facing such pedestrain. However, it shall be unlawful for any pedestrain to walk diagonally across such street intersection. When any vehicle facing a green light enters the street inter- section it may turn into the cross street facing the red or amber light._. No vehicle shall move into, across or turn to the right at such intersection unless or until the green light is displayed facing such vehicle. That Section 4 of said ordim nee sha.l`l be amended to read as follows: Sunset Boulevard, within the corporate limits of the'City of West University Place, is hereby declared to be a through traffic highway, except that any and all vehicles of every character traveling along said Boulevard and at its intersection with either Buffalo Speedway or Belmont .8treet must come to a full and complete stop before entering such intersection and shall thereafter proceed into or across said Buffalo Speedway or Belmont Street. At the intersection of any other street or highway with Sunset Boulevard, within the corporate limits of the City, it shall be unlawful for any person to propel or operate, or attempt to propel or operate, any vehicle at such intersection and into said Sunset Boulevard without first causing said vehicle to come to a full and complete stop., Thereafter any such vehicle may proceed into or across said Sunset Boulevard. Section 4. That there shall be added to said ordinance the following: Ij r Pittsburgh Avenue, at itz'intersection with Belmont Street, within the corporate limits of the City of West University Pace, be and the same is hereby declared a stop street. It shall be unlawful for any person to propel or operate any automobile or other vehicle into or across said Pittsburgh - Avenue, at its intersection with Belmont Street, unless such vehicle is brought to a complete stop immediately before enter- ing or proceeding to cross or enter said Pittsburgh Avenue. �`' Section 5 . All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith, in so far as they conflict, are herewith repealed. Section 6 This ordinance shall take effect and be in force immediately from and after its passage, and approval. PASSED AND APPROVED this the 5th day of Feb- ruary A. D. 1940.
