ORDINANCE NO.15l.
FINDING AND ESTABLISHING THE PREVAILING RATE
OF PER DIID~ WAGES, RATE FOR LEGAL HOLIDAY AND
OVER TIME WORK IN THIS LOCALITY FOR R~CH CRAFT
OR TYPE OF WQRKl\lIEN NEEDED TO EXECUTE THE CON-
TRACT FOR THE ERECTION AND CONSTRUCTION OF
250,000 gallons ELEVATED STEEL WATER TANKS FOR
THE CITY OF WEST UNIVERSITY PLACE, TEXAS, AND
PROVIDING THAT THI S OEDINANCE TAKE EFFECT AND
BE IN FORCE ll~MEDIATELY FROM AND AFTER ITS PASS-
AGE AND APPROVAL.
WHEREAS, the City of West University Place is pre-
paring to let a contract for certain public work, that is,
the construction and erection of two 250,000 gallons elevated
steel water tanks for the City to constitute a part of its
water system, and
,',WHEREAS, under the provlslons of the prevailing
wage law, House Bill No. 54, Acts of the Regular Session of
the, 43rd Legislature, knovm as Article' 5159-a of the Revised
Civil Statut~s o~ Texas requires that not less than the gen-
eral prevailing rate of per ~iem wages for work of a similar
character in the lo~ality in which the work is performed and
not less than the general prevailing rate of per diem wages
for legal holidays and over time work shall be paid to all
,laborers, workmen and mechanics employed on such public work
and that the contract therefor shall specify the general pre-
,vailing rate of per diem wages, legal holidays and over time
work in said locality, and
VffiEREAS, the Board of Commissioners of the City
of V'est University Place has caused an investigation to be
made to ascertain with certainty such prevailing rate of per
diem wages and has heard evidence with reference thereto.
THEREFORE, BE rr ORlJAINEu BY THE BOARD OF COM-
MISS lONERS OF THE CITY OF WEST mil v ERSITY PLACE, TEXAS:
FIRST
That after full investigation and hearing the
following is found to be the prevailing rate of per diem wages
for each craft or type of workmen needed to execute such con-
trac t:
(1) Per diem wage based on eight hour day:

(2) Rate for legal holiday: On the basis of twice
the rates quoted in sub-paragraph (1) above for each
class of labor.
(3) Rate for over time work: one and one-half (1 1/2)
times the rates quoted in suo-paragraph (1) above for each
class of labor.
SECOND
This ordinance shall take effect and be in force
immediately from and after its passage and approval.
