Approved Minutes from December 12, 2024 Diana Ayers, Eileen O’Neil
Introduction of new Senior Services Manager, Michelle Blunt
Assistant Police Chief Gary Ratcliff gave an overview on traffic and pedestrian safety
He asked that if you are aware of certain problem areas or maintenance issues to call the non-
emergency # or email the department.
R. Burks noted seeming more speeding on Buffalo
City Mgr. said problem areas can put traffic count strips tracking volume and speed
G. Hilderbrandt asked about the terrible pedestrian fatality on Bissonet. The woman survived
for a few weeks but ultimately died.
City Mgr. noted that since it was not in our jurisdiction we could not even get information about
the woman’s condition.
Ann Crowley suggested citizen’s contact City of Houston to ask for light length to be increased.
We were successful at Rice and Kirby
Councilman Montgomery asked what can cameras we have do?
G.Ratcliff: 1. License plate readers—geo fence—all entrances—a few just outside the city
2. Live camera feeds on all intersections at the edges—2024 there were 497 hits-missing people,
Stolen vehicle, burglary, license place+camera—will trigger next time they come into city
With Jugging incidents have to put person at scene of crime
PGAL update Library & Community bldg… some key points—increase storage, easier parking
access, shared entrance, separate facilities, restrooms in each facility, open to green space

Leisure Guide and Hi Neighbor will be combined. A big plus is it will go to ALL households.
Currently Hi Neighbor only goes to people already participating. Demand for mahjong increases.

Update on the new track at the rec center—same surface as Edloe pathway
Funding from 4 years of the Fun Run. The sponsors of the Fun Run have been Michelle Marvin
and familyfor many years, they are going to be honored with a sign. Tennis/PB/Rec center
survey going out—need a better system for users—looking at options
GNT –Soraya Brombacher and Angela Mahmarian are new leaders
Councilman Montgomery—encouraged attendance at Council mtgs 2nd & 4th Monday
