HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrd 957 - Amending Section 18-13 Examining & Supervising Board of Plumbers ~ ~ ') l'~ ORDINANCE NUMBER 957 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 18-13 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF WEST UNIVERSITY PLACE, TEXAS, SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT THE EXAMINING AND SUPERVISING BOARD OF PLUMBERS SHALL CONSIST OF FIVE MEMBERS; PROVIDING THAT THE CITY PLUMBING INSPECTOR SHALL SERVE AS AN EX OFFICIO MEMBER WITHOUT VOTING; SETTING FORTH INDIVIDUAL QUALIFICATIONS FOR MEMBERSHIP ON SUCH BOARD; CONTAINING A REPEALING CLAUSE AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE pATE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF WEST UNIVERSITY PLACE, TEXAS: Section 1. That Section 18-13 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of West University Place, Texas is hereby amended to read as follows: "102,1.1 Plumbing Board. There is hereby created a Plumbing Board which shall consist of five (5) members appointed by the City Com- mission consisting of: ( 1 ) A pe rson holding a Master Plumber's License. (2) Either a san i tary, ci vi 1 or mechanical engineer. (3) Either a sanitary, c ivi 1 or mechanical engineer. (4) Either a sanitary, civi 1 or mechanical eng i neer. (5) A person associated wi th the plumbing business. 102.1.2 Appointment and terms of office. Members of the board and their successors shall be appointed by the City Commission and shall hold office for terms of two (2) years, or until their successors are appointed and have qual ified. Such members shall serve without com- pensat ion. 102.1.3 Ex officio members. The city plumbing inspector, the city engineer and water-sewer superintendent shall serve as ex officio members and shall meet with said board and shall serve the board in an advisory capacity, but shall have no power to vote. 102.1.4 Election of officers; adoption of rules. The members of the board shall meet as soon after their appointment as practicable for the purpose of organization. The board shall formally elect a chairman from its membership and may adopt such rules as it deems necessary for the orderly conduct of its affairs. A full and com- plete record of the proceedings of said board shall be kept. A majority of the board shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of business." Section 2. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in direct conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conf1 iet only. Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect immediately from and after its adoption and publ ication according to law. PASSED AND APPROVED this 24th day of May, 1971.
