ORDINANCE NUMBER 953
AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING RATES FOR MOWING AND CLEANING
VACANT LOTS; PROVIDING A FEE FOR FILING AND RELEASE OF
LIENS; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, it was brought to the attention of the City Commission
that city crews have been mowing and cleaning vacant lots when the owners
have failed or refused to do so after due and proper notification; and
WHEREAS, the charge made for mowing and cleaning vacant lots
does not defray the actual direct cost to the city; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission has reviewed the charges now in
effect and believe they should be increased to offset expenditures made
by the city for this purpose; and
WHEREAS, after due consideration the City Commission has de-
termined that it would be reasonable to make a minimum charge for the
annual mowing and cleaning of said lots in addition to a certain sum for
lots above average size.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF WEST UNIVERSITY PLACE, TEXAS:
Section 1. That the following charges be placed into effect
for the mowing and cleaning of vacant lots in the City of West University
Place:
$0.25 per 100 square feet with a minimum charge of
$25.00 on an annual basis
and that there be levied a $5.00 fee for the fi ling of a lien where the
property owner refuses to clean the property or pay for same and the city
is required to perform this service with its employees and equipment,
and that there will be an additional $5.00 fee for the release of said

Section 2. These rates to become effective February 1, 1971.
