HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrd 948 - Amending the Code of ORD Sections 24-60, 24-61, 24-63, 24-66 and 24-67 157 ORDINANCE NUMr3ER AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE: CITY OF 'VJEST UNIVERSITY PLACE, TEXi\S, BY Al'-1ENTIING SECTIONS 24-60, 24-61, 24-63, 24-66 AND 24-67; CHANGING THE DATE ON 'VffiICH A PENALTY SHALL BE CHARGED; INCRKASING FROM $1.00 TO $2.00 THE CHARGE FOR RESUMPTION OF SERVICE; INCRKASING THE DEPOSIT FOR WATER AI\1D SEvJER INCREASING 'VvATER RATES; INCREASING SEWER SERVICE CHill~GE AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE OF JANlJARY 1, NOW, THEF.EFORE, BE IT ORDAII\1ED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF TIlli CITY OF vJEST UNIVERSITY PLACE, TEXAS: Section 1. That Section 24-60(b) of the Code of Ordinances of the of west University Place, Texas, is hereby amended to read as follows: "Section 24-60(b). Penalty. In the event such consumer does not pay the amount due within ten (10) days from the date of his b there shall be assessed and charged a penalty charge of ten percent (10%) of the amount due." Section 2. That Section 24-60(c) of the Code of Ordinances of the City of West University Place, Texas, is hereby amended to read as follows: "Section 21~-60( c). Delinquent. If the consumer fails to pay the amount due plus the penalty charged against him -wi thin twenty ( days from the date of the bill, such consumer will be considered deliquent and shall be given notice that all utilities furnished the city will be discontinued and terminated within ten (10) days of the date of such notice." Section 3. That Section 24-61 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of vJest University Place, Texas, is hereby amended to read as follows: "Section 24-61. Same-Resumption of service. consumer of city utilities whose service has been discontinued may not again have utility service without the payment of all delin- quent bills and the payment of service charge of two dollars ( ,00) and a new deposit as required by Section 24-63." Section 4. That Section 24-63 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of West University Place, Texas, is amended to read as follows: "Section 24-63. 'Vvater and sewer service depost - s' Any person who shall apply to the for water and sewer service shall be required to deposit with the water and sevIer department the sum of fiteen dollars ($15.00) if such person is at that time the owner of the property for which the application is made; and the sum of twenty dollars ($20.00) if at the time such application is original- ly made such applicant is not the o-wner of the property for which the application is made. Commercial users shall be required to deposit with the water and sewer department the sum of twenty-five dollars ($25.00)." 158 Section 5, That Section 24-66(a) of the Code of Ordinances of the City of v{est University Place, Texas, is hereby amended to read as follows: "Section 24-66(a).
