AN ORDINANCE A~lliNDING SECTION 4-2 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES
OF 'l'HE CITY OF WEST UNIVERSITY PLACE, TEXAS; PROHIBITING THE
CONSUMPTION OF ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES BETvJEEN CERTAIN HOURS AND
AT CERTAIN PLACES; PROHIBITING THE SALE OF WI]\J~ Al\TQ/OR BEER
BETVIEEN CERTAIN HOURS; AN]) PROVIDING AN EFFECTIV~ DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COI~SSION OF THE CITY OF VIEST UNIVERSITY
PLACE, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City Commission has been wade aware of amend-
ments to Ayticle 666-4 and Article 667-10, Vernon's Texas Penal Code which
extends the time for the lawful sale of alcoholic beverages until 2:00 a.m.
under certain conditions.
SECTION 2. That the Citv Commission is aware that it has been given
the authority by Section 667-10~ t~ regulate the hours of sale of beer and/or
'dine Ivi thin the corporate limits of the City.
SECTION 3. Section 4-2 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of West
University Place, Texas is hereby amended so that hereafter said Section shall
read as follows:
"Section 4-2. CLOSING HOUES FOR SALES.
(a) It shall be unlawful between the hours of 12:01 a.m. and
7:00 a.m. of any week day and between the hours of 12:01 a.m.
and 1:00 p.m. on any Sunday for any person to consume any alco-
holic beverage, or for any person who owns, operates, manages
or is in charge of any place either personally or by agent,
servant or employee, or for any agent, servant or employee of
any such person to permit the consumption of any alcoholic
beverages at any of the hereinafter designated places within
the city, to-wit:
(1) On the premises of any person holding or required
to have a license illlder and by virtue of the Texas
Liquor Control Act and/or the ordinances of the city.
(2) Any restaurant, cafe or eating establishment.
(3) Any public dance hall.
(4) Any public house of amusement.
(5) Any public street, park, place or thoroughfare,
railway, interurban or bus station, terminal or
depot.
(b) It shall be unlawful for any -~rson to sell beer and/or wine
or offer the same for sale within the corporate limits of the City
between the hours of 12:01 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. of any week day and
between the hours of 12:01 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on any Sunday."

SECTION 4. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force immedia-
tely after its passage and approval and pubbcation as required by law.
