[Call to Order] Jonathon Hance called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.
1. Notices, Rules, Etc. Jonathon Hance welcomed BSC members and staff to the meeting. All members
and staff introduced themselves. Josie Hayes stated notices were posted per state and local laws. Josie
Hayes stated Krishna Shah and Spyros Maragos were the alternate voting members.
2. Public Comments. There were no public comments.
3. Discussion Items from Staff.
• Fire Code: The proposed amendments to the 2021 International Fire code regarding residential
EV charging stations and electric storage systems were discussed. Staff summarized the
changes made based on previous feedback, including the recommended addition of a 90-
minute fire rating for garage doors. Commission member Krishna Shah expressed concerns
about the significant cost increase (estimated at $7,000) for the two-hour fire rating
requirement, suggesting that a monitored fire alarm system may be a more cost-effective
solution. The BSC also discussed the rationale for the one-hour versus two-hour fire rating,
including the purpose of providing time for occupants to evacuate and containing the fire to
the garage area. The BSC agreed that the two-hour fire rating is a reasonable requirement,

considering the potential safety benefits and the relatively small cost impact in the context of
new home construction.
ACTION: Jonathon Hance made a motion to recommend the proposed amendments
authorizing the BSC Chair to verify the final language is consistent with the discussion and
present it to City Council. James Craig seconded. AYES:Jonathon Hance,James Criag,Eddie
Matthews, Spyros Maragos and Krishna Shah. NOES: None. ABSTAIN: None. Motion
approved.
4. Meeting Minutes. Eddie Matthews made a motion to approve April 3, 2025, minutes. Krishna Shah
seconded.AYES: Jonathon Hance,James Craig,Eddie Matthews, Spyros Maragos and Krishna Shah.
NOES: None. ABSTAIN: None. Motion approved.
Jonathon Hance made a motion to adjourn. James Craig seconded. AYES: Jonathon Hance, James
