That the office of City Engineer be, and the same is hereby cl'>eated$ Section 2. The mayor shall have power to appoint a suiiable and competent person, who shall be a'duly licensed civil engineer, to the office 9f City Engineer, but such appointment shall not be effective until it has been confirmed by a majority vote of the City COlli~cil, provided that in the event of a vacancy in said office, the maycr may appoint a competent person to fill the same until the next regular IDeeting of the City CounCil, at which time the name of such appointee shall be submitted to the council, and, if no. person be confirmed at such meeting, the mayor may continue his appointee in said office or may appoint another to fill the place until the next regular meet- ing of the council. Section 3$ The City Engineer shall perform all such duties as are usuall:r.incumbent upon an engineer for a public corporation 8.nd shall perform all su.ch other duties as may be imposed upon him by ordinances 01' resolutions of this cou.ncil. Section 4~ The City Engineer shall receive, as his compensation, B'.lOli. fees and sillary as may be pl'ovided by ordinances or ---. ' ~ ']1-------------,- II' 6 reso'iutions of the cO.uDeil. Section 5. That all prior ordinances covering the subject-matter of this ordinance and a11 prior ordinances or any parts thereof 'that are in conflict herewith, be and the sam? are hereby repealed. Section 6. ,,.. The fact that certain original city ordinances are lost or misplaced and/or there is conflict between ordinances and confusion concerning ordinances, creates an amergency and an imperative public'necessity, wherefore the second and third re::l.dings of this ordinance are hereby suspended and this ordinance .
