Section 18-68 is a currently reserved section within Chapter 18(Buildings and Development)and under Article II
(General Regulations).The intent of this code addition is to establish general rules and regulations for the
installation of generators.The Zoning& Planning Commission is currently considering zoning amendments that
would revise permitted projections for generators into required yard or setback areas.
Sec. 18-68. Generators.
(1) Location. All generators shall be installed in compliance with the minimum setback standards outlined
in Table 7A-2:Yards(or`setbacks').See also Table 7A-7(Projections Schedule)for authorized
projections into required yard or setback areas.
(2) Clearance. All generators shall be installed with a minimum clearance of eighteen (18)inches from any
structure or shall be installed as per the manufacturers specifications for minimum clearance for the
specific model of generator to be installed,the more restrictive thereof.
(3) Building Codes. All mechanical equipment shall meet all other applicable requirements of the
International Building and Residential Codes adopted by the city.
