Presentation by Dave Beach regarding Facilities Master Plan
City Manager Dave Beach presented the board with design posters showing the present and potential future configurations for the City Center, in particular the areas around the Community
Center. The particular focus of his presentation was the outdoor or urban aspects of the proposed changes, i.e., how the City could best use the surrounding land to enhance the appearance
and experience of the new City Center as plans are implemented. He noted that neither Milton nor Amherst host any residential lots, and this presented the possibility of using some
or all of the current paved roadways for pedestrian paths, landscaping, and other improvements for the public to traverse between City Hall, the Community Center, and Polic and Fire
Departments. Depending on how much streetscape was utilized, there might be some loss of parking spaces. This issue is the subject of the upcoming survey which members were encouraged
to complete and submit.
