HomeMy WebLinkAbout04091953 ZPC Minutes_~ MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING ZONING & PLANNING BOARD APRIL g, 1953 The Zoning and Ple.nning Board convened in regular session on Thursday, April 9, 1953 7:30 P.M, with the following members present: Mr. Roy Maley, pre- . siding; Messrs. Hannah, Davis, Taylor and Halbert. Dr. Ben Walpole of 3308 Rice Boulevard requested permission to erect a car- port to be attached to the west side of his residence in accordance with a sketch submitted, which showed the proposed structure would be 9 Ft. 10 Inches wide with the supporting posts on the side property line. The driveway of the adjoining residence is on the same side making a total distance of 22 Ft. 4 Inches .between the two houses. Motion by Mr. Taylor, seconded by Mr. Hannah that the Board recommend that the request of Dr. Ben Walpole for permission to construct a carport in accordance with sketch submitted subject to the following conditions: (1) that a public hearing be held, (2) that the walls not be enclosed, (3) that it not extend beyond the front line of the house, and (~) that an affidavit be exe- cuted that it will not be used for commercial purposes. Voting Aye: Messrs. Taylor, Hannah, Halbert and Maley Voting No Mr. Davis Mr. W. A. Franklin, 2121 Peckham, advised the Board that he was interested in purchasing the -Tot located. on the Southeast corner of Bissonnet and Belmont and also the Southwest corner and adjoining lot for the purpose of erecting three ~+ unit apartment buildings if .the property were rezoned for that purpose The Board advised Mr. Franklin that a request for spot zoning of that nature would not be considered, however, if he wau.ld present a firm application for developing all the property facing Bissonnet between Wakeforest and Buffalo Speedway, the Board would give consideration to such a request. No action was taken on the request submitted. Mr. M. J. Wesfeldt, representing Bayard Gaylor and Family, owner of property located on the Southeast corner of Bissonnet and Sewanee, requested the Board to consider rezoning this property to permit erection of a funeral home. No action was taken by the Board on this request as it was decided to defer the matter for future consideration.
