HomeMy WebLinkAbout12111952 ZPC Minutes~~' MINUPES OF REGULAR MEETING ZONING & PLANNING BOARD DECEMBER 11, 1952 The Zoning and Planning Board convened in regular session at the City Hall at 7:30 P.M. on Thursday, December 11, 1952, with the following members present: Mr. Maley, presiding; Messrs. Hannah, Davis and Halbert. Mrs. L. G. Gaines, owner of Lot 1, Block 2 and Lot 16, Block 1, of Monticello Addition and other owners of property fronting Bissonnet Street in Block 1 and 2, Monticello Addition submitted a petition requesting the Zoning Board to recommend an amendment to the Zoning Ordinance permitting duplexes or apartment buildings to be constructed on property fronting Bissonnet Street '~ in these two blocks. ~~ The Board advised the property owners that the request submitted would be con- ~, sidered but they desired to receive legal and architectural advice and recom- ~-'" mendations before taking official action. Mr. Albert Schnyder 3311 Tangley appeared before the Board requesting per- mission to construct an a dition 10 x 18 Ft. to his present garage structure to be used as a play room, and storage room, and to contain a shower, lavatory and commode. Motion by Mr. Hannah, seconded by Mr. Davis that the request of Mr. Schnyder, 3311 Tangley, to construct an addition 10 x 18 Ft. to his present garage to be used as.a play room be approved provided he will install only a lavatory and commode and not shower facilities; and subject to execution of usual affidavit. Voting Aye: All No: None Mr. F. A. Rhodes, Jr., 6633 Vanderbilt, requested permission to erect a 20 x 25 Ft. guest house on the back portion of his 100 x 200 Ft. lot. Mr, Rhodes ex- plained that he wished to construct this building as living quarters for his - Mother-in-law and Father-in-law. Motion by Mr. Halbert, seconded by Mr. Hannah that the request of Mr. F. A. Rhodes, Jr. for permission to erect a guest house be denied as this would be an additional family dwelling unit on one lot which is a violation of Ordinance No. 111. Voting Aye: All No: None Mr. Harwood Taylor, who had signed an option to purchase Lot 9, Block 22, Col- lege Court Addition requested to construct a building on this lot to be used as an Architect's office. Motion by Mr. Davis, seconded by Mr. Halbert that the request of Mr. Harwood Taylor for permission to construct an architect's office on Lot 9, Block 22, College Court Addition be denied. Voting Aye: All No: None ~) Mr. Geo. R. Woolf, 2626 Cason Street requested permission to erect an 18 x 12 Ft. room to his existing garage to be used as a work shop for his personal use . Motion by Mr. Halbert, seconded by Mr. Hannah that the request of Mr. Woolf 2626-Cason Street to erect an 18 x 12 Ft. room to his existing garage to be used as a work shop be approved subject to execution of usual affidavit and provided the addition does not include any plumbing facilities.
