HomeMy WebLinkAbout10091952 ZPC Minutes6~ MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING ZON1T~tG & PLANNING BOARD OCTOBER 9, 1952 The Zoning and Planning Board convened in regular session at the City Hall on Thursday, October g, 1952, with the following members present: Mr. Roy Maley; presiding; Messrs. Goff, Morris and Riggs. Mr. Moss was absent. Mrs. P. C. Cronin, 2623 Amherst, requested the Board to recommend approval for the erection of a carport at her home located on Lot 8, Block 12, Virginia Court Addition. Mrs. Cronin explained to the Board that her lot was only x+7.35 Feet wide and she did not have enough space on either side of the house for a driveway in order to construct a garage or carport for her automobile. Originally there had been an attached garage which was converted into a bed- room and Mrs,- Cronin wished to have the carport erected in front of the bed- ~--P ~.~. room ever the existing concrete drive which would extend within 18 Ft. of the front property line. Motion by Mr. Goff, seconded by Mr. Morris that the Board recommend to the City "~ Council that the request of PfIrs. Cronin, 2623 Amherst for permission to add a carport to the front of the existing dwelling to extend within 18 Feet of the proper-"~y line be denied as this setback distance would be less than required by the Zoning 0~•dinance . Voting Aye: All Voting No None Pair. Herbert F. Peiper, owner of Lot 13, Block 1, Be11e Court, appeared before the Board advising that he had plans prepared for a residence containing 900 Sq. Ft. on this iot but had been refused a building permit as the Zoning -0 rdi- nance ~^equired a dwelling with a minimum of 1250 Sq. Ft. in this location. `!he Board ad-rised Mr. Peiper that they would not recommend an amendment to the Zonint Ordinance for this difference in the Sq. Ft. requirements and suggested that he make a revision in the plans submitted which he agreed to do. No action was taken at -this time. Mrs. L. G. Gaines, owner of Lot 16, Block 1, and Lot 1, Block 2, Monticello, requested the Board to recommend approval for erection of a duplex or apartment building on these lots. The Board advised Mrs. Gaines that they would not con- sider a, chanr;e in zoning restrictions for one cr two pieces of property but suggested that she contact other property owners on Bissonnet in Monticello Addition and if a petition was signed by other property owners that they also desired the property rezoned for apartments or duplexes consideration would then be given tc the matter. Mr. W. C. Williamson, Attorney, representing the West University Baptist Church and a group of Baptist Church members requested that action be taken to re-zone lots 16, 17 and 18, Block 15, Collegeview 3rd Addition for cY~urch purposes in order that two frame buildings now located on the c'::urch property at Auden and Milton may be moved thereon. The Board considered the advisability of granting. the request on a temporary basis for a period of three years but representatives of the Church indicated they preferred a permanent change or none. Under these circumstances the following action was taken: Motion by Mr: Rigs, seconded by Mr. Goff that the Board recommend to the ~~ (~ 6) Council that the request of the West University Baptist Church to rezone Lots 16, 17 and 18, Block 15, Collegeview 3rd Addition for church purposes be denied. Voting Aye: Messrs. Riggs, Goff and Maley. Mr. Morris did not vote. Voting No : Tlone With no furt~~er business to come before the Board at this time, upon motion duly made, seconded and carried, the meeting was adjourned. CHA~- /J__ ~ ~~ SECRETARY MINUTES OF SPECIAL MEETING OF ZONING BOARD OCTOBER 13, 1952 The Zoning and Planning Board convened in special session on Monday October 13, 1952, with the following members present: Mr. Roy Maley, presiding; Messrs. Goff, Morris and Riggs. Mr. Moss was absent. Mr. Herbert F. Peiper, owner of Lot 13, Block 1, Belle Court, in accordance with the Board's suggestion at the regular meeting on October g, 1952, submitted revised plans for a dwelling to be erected on the above mentioned lot with an area of 1150 Square Feet. Motion by Mr. Morris, seconded by Mr. Goff that the Board recommend that Mr. Herbert F. Peiper be permitted to erect a home on Lot 13, Block 1, Belle Court with a minimum of 1150 Square Feet instead of 1250 Square Feet as now required by the Zoning; Ordinance. Voting Aye: All Voting No None With no further business to come before the Board at this time, upon motion duly made, seconded and carried, the meeting was adjourned. % - CHAIRMAN z SECRETARY
