HomeMy WebLinkAbout10191950 ZPC Minutes~~ MINUTk~ OF REGULAR MEETING ZONING & PLANNING BOAR- OCTOBER lq, 1950 The Zoning & Planning Board convened in regular session at the City Hall on Thursday, October l~, 1950, at 7:30 P.M. with the following members present: ;~~r. 0. C. King, presiding; Messrs. Allen and Maley. Messrs. Moss and Taylor were absent. Mr. Henry H. Schaller, 6515 Belmont Street, submitted a request to change the present attached single car garage into a room for purpose of enlarging his living quarters, and to erect a two car garage on the north half of the lot. City records indicated that this lot, being Lot 3, Block 9, West University Flace 1st Addition had been officially subdivided into two 50x200 Ft. lots on 2,~arch 16, 1950, in compliance with a request from Mr. K. T. Blakely. Mr. Schaller, present owner of the property, advised that he had purchased the 100 x 200 Ft. lot as a single unit and it was his desire that it remain as such. Motion by Mr. Allen, secanded by Mr. b~taley that action of the Zoning Board on March 16, 1950, subdividing Lot ~5, Block 9, .nest University Place 1st Addition into two 50 x 200 Ft. lots be rescinded.; the property hencef orth to revert to its former status of one 100 x 200 Ft. lot as requested by Iulr. H. H. Schaller, present owner of the property. 1 Voting Aye: All Voting No : None Motion by Mr. Maley, seconded by Mr. Allen, that :dr. H. H. Schadler's re- quest to change his present attached single car garage into a room for pur- pose of enlarging his living quarters for family use and to build a two car detached garage on the north half of Lot 8, Block ~, West university Place 1st Addition be recommended for approval. .'Voting A.ye : All .Voting No : None Mr. Banks Moreland, owner of Lot 27, Cambridge Place, appeared before the Board advising that Shell Research Laboratory, occupant of the building on said lot, had requested that he erect a l~5 x 67 Ft. building on the north portion of the property for storage purposes, b1r. bfiareland asked information from the Board as to the type of construction which would be permitted for this t;~=pe of building, and was advised by the Board that Section 11~ of the Zoning Ordinance specified that "a building in the retail business district shall be enclosed on all sides with walls constructed wholly of stone, burned bric_~c or reinf orced concrete", The Board sugbested to Tvlr. Moreland that he appear bef ore the Council at their next meeting if he desired to discuss the possibility of using any other materials than those specified in the ordinance. A letter was received from Mr. ~N. B. Ruth, 3516 Nottingham, asking per- mission to erect living quarters in connection with his present garage. No action was taken on this request as the Board desired additional inf ormation reference the }:.reposed use of the living quarters and I~ir.
