HomeMy WebLinkAbout01191950 ZPC Minutes~2~ MINUTES CF REGULAR MEETING ZONING & PLANNING BOARD JANUARY 19, 1950 The Zoning & Planning Board convened in regular session at the City Hall on Thursday, January 19, 1950, 7:30 P.M. with the following members present: Mr. O. C. King, presiding; Messrs. Duncan P. Allen, H. J. Chavanne, Franklin C. Jones and Roy Maley. Dr. F. M. Hughes, 36011 University Boulevard requested permission from the Board to use one room of his home as an office for consultation purposes. Dr. Hughes explained that most of his ~rork was done at the hospitals in Houston and he wanted the office in his home for emergency use and consul- tations only. The request was discussed but no action was taken for reason that members of the Board desired a written opinion from the City Attorney on the interpretation of Paragraph 1t, of Section 3, of Ordinance No. 111. Mr. Ross Williams, owner of property at the corner of Bissonnet and Wake- f orest treets appeared before the Board asking inf ormation regarding a request submitted on November 1~, 19249, requesting that the Board consider recommending a change in the Zoning Ordinance permitting his property to be used for commercial purposes. The request was tabled at that date. After discussing the request Mr. Williams was advised by the Board that they would not recommend rezoning the property for business purposes but would consider recommending rezoning to permit duplexes or apartment build- ings if such request was submitted. Mr. '~filliams asked that his request of November 18, 19149, be held in abeyance and he would make a su}~plementary application at a later date. Mr. and Mrs. L. G. Gaines, owners of Lot 1, Block 2 and Lot 16, Block 1, Monticel o, an Mr. ohn Singleton, Attorney, representing Messrs. ~+fm. C. and J. S. Marshall who own property on Bissonnet Street in Monticello Ad- dition also appeared before the Board seeking information regarding their prior requests for rezoning ¢,his area on Bissonnet Street. The advisability of rezoning the area was considered and the matter discussed at great length. Mr. and Mrs. Gaines and I+dr. Singleton advised that they would also make a supplementary application for rezoning at a later date. Mr. Wm. H. Huston 14150 Amherst, requested permission to erect an extension not to exceed y~ x 1 ' onto his existing 18' x 18~ one-story garage build- ing to be used for storage purposes. Motion by Mr. Jones, seconded by Mr. Chavanne that the request of A~Irr. Wm. H. Huston for permission to erect an extension onto his existing garage building for utility storage purposes be recommended for approval.
