C. King, pre- siding; Mr. Duncan Allen and Mr. Roy Maley. ~~essrs. H. J. Chavanne and F. C. Jones wire absent. Mr. Sherman J. Glass, owner of the property at 2709 Robinhood, which is in an area restricted to single family dwellings containing a minimum of 1LtOfl Sq. Ft. with 51~ masonry construction requested the Board to grant permis- sion to construct a home with only a masonry front and also requested that the restrictions requiring 1tt00 Sq. Ft. be waived to permit construction of a home containing only 1200 Sq. Ft. since the lot has a frontage of only 50 Ft. ~Ir. Glass submitted a list of the type of construction of all houses ire the 2600 and 2700 blocks of Robinhood which revealed that the majority of the houses were not in keeping with the sly masonry requirement. Motion by,-~dr": Allen, aeconded by Mr. Maley that the request of Mr. Glass for waiving of the 51~ masonry construction requirement be granted, but the request for waiving the 1?~00 Sq. Ft. restrictions to permit construction of a 1200 Sq. Ft:,house be denied. Voting Aye: All Voting No None Mr. Allen +~illiams, architect, requested on behalf of Dr. and Mrs. Howard L. Evans, owners of the lot at 6l~28 Belmont, permission to locate a new hom~Ft. back from the front property line in order to save two large pecan trees which would have to be cut dowm if the home was located ex- actly on the required thirty foot set back building line. Motion by Mr. Maley, seconded by Mr. Allen that Dr. and Mrs. Howard L. ~ Evans be permitted to locate their proposed home approximately six feet back of the required building line as requested. Voting Ayes All Voting No None Mr. H. A. Tenney, 2736 Centenary, requested permission to build a 12' x 20' storage room and hobby shop on the rear of these premises. Mr. Tenney assured the Board that this room would not be built for rental purposes or occupancy b~T anyone. Motion by Mr. Allen, seconded by ~(r. Maley that the request of ?dirr. H. A. Tenney for permission to build a 12' x 20' storage room and hobby shop on the rear of his premises at 2736 Centenary be recommended for approval subject to execution of usual affidavit. Voting Ayes All Vot.~ng Igo None Dr. rdhitson, representing the Family Service Bureau, an agency of the Coj~ununity Chest requested the Zoning Board to recommend approval of issuing 1 ~";~ license to residents in pest University Place to permit operation of day. nurseries, and also permission for the .Fire Department to make inspections from the standpoint of safety and the Health Department to approve sani- tation. Dr. Whitson explained that the homes are licensed for a maximum of six children and certain requirements must be complied with before appli- cations are approved. The Board assured I~r. Whitson that the matter mould be considered and a recommendation made to the City Council after careful study.
