MEETING ZONING & PLANNING BOARD MAY 19, 1919 The Zoning & Planning Board met in regular session at the City Hall, on May 19, 19119, 7:30 F.M. with the following members present: Mr. 0. C. King, presiding; Mr. Allen, Mr. H. J. Chavanne, Mr. Franklin Jones and Mr. Roy Maley. Mr. E. B. Thornton 2829 Sunset, requested permission from the Board to erect a small greenhouse ' " x 10' to be attached to his existing garage building. Mr. Thornton stated that this greenhouse would be used solely for the growing of flowers and plants as a hobby and for his personal enjoyment. -.,; . Motion by L'~ ~,Chavanne seconded by Mr. Jones that the request of Mr. E. B. Thornton f'~ permission to erect a small ~'6" x 10' greenhouse to be attached to his 'existing garage be recommended for approval provided an affidavit stating this structure will not be used for commercial purposes is executed. Voting Aye: All Voting No None Mr. Frank Henderson, 3119 Plumb Street, requested the Board to recommend approval for construction of a screened porch and a hobby shop approxi- mately 33' x 12', to be attached to the present garage. Motion by Mr. Maley, seconded by Mr. Chavanne that the request of Mr. Henderson for permission to construct a screened porch and a hobby shop be recommended for approval provided affidavit stating that this addition ,~aill not be used for commercial purposes is executed. Voting Aye: All Voting No None Mr. A. Zwerneman 2932 Sunset, appeared before the Board and advised that he ha received a building permit to build a sun porch onto his existing home, but did not receive permission to build an outside entrance in this addition. Mr. Swerneman, requested the Board to recommend approval of a permit to allow construction of an outside entrance door in this addition. The Board considered this request and after conferring with the City Building Inspector, Mr. J. F. Jolly, it was brought out that a building permit had been issued to Mr. 2werneman for_the addition of a bedroom and bath. Motion by Mr. Chavanne, seconded by Mr. Allen that the Board recommend that the request of Mr.Gwerneman for permission to build an outside entrance door on the additional bedroom and bath, be denied. Voting Aye: All Voting No None ~~ Cdr. J. L. Adler, President of the Board of Trustees of the First Uni- tarian Church of Houston, Texas, submitted a request to the Zoning Board requesting that the Zoning Ordinance be amended to permit erection of a church on Lots 3 and 1t, Block !~, West University Place No. 1. Among other members of the church who spoke on behalf. of the request were Ur. John Clarence Petrie, Minister; Mr. Jack Lawrence and I~r. Russell Hansen,. Chairman of the building committee. Property owners in the vicinity of Lots 3 and !~, Block 1t, West University Place No. 1, objecting to the building of a church on this lot were Colonel 0. W. Noel, Mr. Frank E. Foster, Mr. Garvin F. Bongio, fir. Leo Poen, Mr. E. L. Williams. lotion by Mr. Jones, seconded by Ddr. ~daley that the Zoning Board recommend to the City Council that the Zoning Ordinance be amended to permit erection of a church on Lots 3 and ~, Block !~, West University Place No. 1 provided plans and specifications are presented to the Zoning Board and City Council before any building is started. Voting Aye; All Voting No None lotion by Tyr. Allen,. seconded by Mr. Jones that action approving the re- quest of Dr. F. M. Hughes, 3601 University Boulevard for permission to add a storage and wash room to the back of his present garage, be ratified. Voting Aye: All Voting.
