HomeMy WebLinkAbout04141949 ZPC Minutes~~ MINUTES OF SPACIAL MEETING ZONING & PLANNING BOAR- APRIL 1l~, 1919 The Zoning Board met in special session on April 1l~, 1y~.9, at the City Hall with the following members present: 0. C. King, presiding; Mr. Rcy Maley, and ~~r. Uuncan Allen. Mr. H. J. Chavanne and Mr. F. C. Jones were absent. Mr. Howard Bales, 3782 Plumb Street requested permission from the Board to build a screened porch or breezewray 11' x 2~.' and a storage room 12' x 18' adjoined to his two-car garage and located bet~reen the garage and dwelling. The walls of all new construction are to be of 105 siding, same as present garage, and entire structure is to be built on a concrete slab as shown on plans furnished. Motion by Mr. Allen, seconded by Mr. +llaley that the request of Mr. .Boyles for permission to build an addition to his two-car garage for storage space and construction of ~a screened breezeway to be located betva~een the garage and dwelling be,,.apprbved` in accordance ~rcith plans submitted. ,~ Voting Aye : All Voting'No None Mr. H. J. Chavanne arrived at this time. The Zoning Board considered the advisability of re-zoning a portion of a tract of land containing 0.98 of an acre out of the Haden & Austin 103.lt1 Acre tract of the A. C. Re,~nolds survey, Harris County, Texas and sae ing located in the C:_ty of Nest University Place from a business site to an area to be used for a sin gle-family dwelling only. 1'he property described by metes and bounds is as follows: "Beginning at the intersection of the north property line on Rice Boulevard with the east property line of Edloe Street; thence along the east line of Edloe Street a distance of 1211.0 feet to a point .for curve;. thence in a northeasterly direction, with a curve to the right, the radius of which is 200 feet, a distance of 209.la1~ feet to a point for a reverse curve; thence continuing in a northeasterly direction with a curve to the left, the radius of which is 130 feet, to a point for corner in the center of the drainage ditch; thence sout`i along the center line of said drainage ditch and east boundary line aforementioned a distance of 359.8 feet to the north property line of said Rice Boule- vard; a distance of 155 feet to the east line of saki Edloe Street and point of beginning." The re-zoning pertained to that portion of the above land running along Edloe Street 150 feet of -the north line of Rice Boulevard and from t~ze east line of Edloe along the north line of Rice Boulevard to the center line of the drainage ditch. Motion by Mr. Allen, seconded by Mr. Maley that the Zoning Board recommend to the City Council that the portion of land running along Edloe Street 150 feet of the north line of Rice Boulevard and from the east line of Edloe along the north line of Rice Boulevard to the center line of the drainage ditch, be re-zoned to a single-family dwelling area and that necessary ordi- nances to change the zoning accordingly be instituted; this change recom- mended for the reason that single-family residences woL,.ld be more in keeping with other property in the area and use of the property for any other purpose would create a serious traffic hazard and would damage the adjacent and other residential property in this section.
