M?NUTES OF REGULAR MEETING ZONING & PLANNING BOARD DECEA~BER 18, 19~t7 The Zoning do Planning Board of the City of West University Place, met in regular session at the City Hall on Thursday, Dec. 18, 19k7, 7:30 P.M. with the following members present: Mr. H. E. Terry, Chairman Mr. ~. C. King Mr. Charles D. Meter Chairman H. E. Terry, presiding, declared a quorum present and the transaction of business in order. hrs. Walter S. Ra , Sr., bbl2 Rutgers, ~r esented application for permit to build a garage apartment to a used by a married son and his family. Motion by Mr. Meter, seconded by I~rr. King that application of Mrs. Rapp for permit to build a garage apartment be denied. Voting Aye: All Voting Noe: None Mr. Jeer _B_eck, 2802 Plwnb Street appeared before the Board requesting permission to sub-divide Lot 10, Blk. 17~ W.U.P. No. 1. fir. Beck told the Board that he did not own the lot, but would buy it if the sub-division could be made. It was ex- plained to Mr. Beck that a lot could not be sub-divided unless the request was made by the owner, and if he bought the lot and cams before the Board at their next meeting they would give permission to sub-divide the lot. Mr. M. L. Buckelew, who owns the property at 3122 Nottingham, presented application or a permit to rebuild a garage apartment at this address which was destroyed by fire on Oct. 21~, 191:7. He explained that the house on this property was rented to tenants and the garage apartment would be used: by these tenants for servants quarters. Mr. Buckelew was told he would not be permitted to rent the apartment as a means of revenue and the execution of an affidavit to this effect would be necessary be- fore apermit mould be granted. Motion by Mr. Meter, seconded by Mr. King that the request of Mr. Buckelew with reference to a Permit to complete the rebuilding of his garage apartment be grat:ted subject to necessary proof being furnished, which the City Attorney may deem suffi- cient, setting out facts to the effect that Mr. Buckelew as owner will see to it that this garage apartment will not be rented out in violation of Zoning Ordinance No. 1].l, as well as to see to it that any and all tenants that occupy the premises has notice to this same effect. Voting Aye: All Voting Noe: None Mr. Lester M. Ricks, Attorney, and Mr. Joe Cathriner of the West University Building & Realty Company, located at 3202 University B vd. and Buffalo Speedway, appeare d before the Board requesting a Permit to complete an addition to the Real Estate office and connect Plumbing facilities. The addition to the office building was started in July 191t? without a Permit and an order was issued by the City of West University Place for Mr: Cathriner to cease arty constriction work until the case had been passed upon and a Permit granted. r x Mr. Cathriner was asked to file application fora permit for this addition and was advised that the matter would be referred to the City Attorney for recommen- dation. Application. was presented from Mr. Frank J. Janeba, Jr., 3760 Rice Blvd., for Permit to build an addition to his garage as a playroom for his children and as a dark room for his photographic hobby and occasionally as a guest room. Motion by Mr. King, seconded by Mr. Adehr, that the application of Mr. Janeba, Jr. be approved and Permit be issued after proper affidavit is executed by Mr. Janeba stating that the proposed addition will not be used for rent purposes. Voting Aye: -All Voting Noe: None Mr. Dan G. Fowler submitted a letter requesting permission to construct a house in t 00 oc of Arnold Street of asbestos siding with stone front. This location is in the-area designated as 51~ brick construction. but there is a large percent of the houses on this street which have been permitted to use less than the required amount of brick and some of them a7.1. asbestos siding. Motion by Mr. King, seconded by ~r. Mehr, that the request of Mr. Fowler to build a house in the 3700 block of Arnold Street of asbestos siding with stone front be approved. Voting Aye: All Voting Noe: None Application was presented from Mr. Bennie F. Strickland for Permit to build an addition onto his garage for f ami use. Motion by Mr. Mehr, seconded by Mr. King that the request of Mr. Bennie F. Strick- land be granted after proper execution of affidavit stating that the proposed addition will not be used for rent purposes. Voting Aye: All Voting Noe: None Application was presented from Mrs. Carrie Cushman, 6619 Belmont, requesting permission to build an addition bedroom to her home. Motion by Mr. King, seconded by Mr. Mehr that permission be granted Mrs. Cushman to build an additional bed room. Voting Aye: All Voting Noe: None With no further business to come before the Board at this time, upon motion duly made seconded and carried, the meeting was adjourned. CHAI ~------- - - SECRET
