A regular meeting of the Zoning & Planning Commission of the City of 1Nest Uni-
versity Place was held on Thursday, September 25, 1947, at 7:30 P.I~L, at which
meeting the following members were present:

T~Ir. FI. E. Terry, presiding, declared a quorum present and the transaction of
business was in order.
Tars. E. Verrill, 3772 Rice Blvd, appeared before the Commission requesting
permission to build a garage apartment at the rear of her home for rental
purposes. She stated that her only means of income was derived from the renting
of two bed-rooms in her home and a garage apartment would relieve the situation
considerably.
After explaining to I~rs. Merrill that it tivas the duty of the Zoning Commission to
uphold the Zoning laws and permit only si ngl~t.family dwelling units in this area,
motion was made by T~Zr. Meter, seconded by Mr. King, that the request for a garage
apartment be denied, but if she so desired she was privileged to appeal to the
City Council.
k letter was presented by J. F. Jolly, City Building Inspector, reference two
signs which are located on .City property at the Corner of University and Buffalo
Speedway. Tvir. Terry informed Tvir. Jolly the matter had been referred to Mr. Johnson
by the City Council and no action would be necessary by ,the Zoning Commission.

'~. M. Hubbard, 280. Georgetown: Application for play room over garage with affidavit
executed to the effect that the addition would not be used commercially.
T,~iotion by '~Irs. Eberling, seconded by i~r. King that previous action of the Zoning
Commission to permit an addition to garage at 280. Georgetown, to be used as a
play room,be ratified.
Voting Aye: All
Voting Noe: None
Letter from TMir. ~. Mrs. L. G. Gaines, requesting the rezoning of property abutting
Bissonnet Street at Belmont, in Monticello Addition for business or apartments was
read by Mr. Meter. After careful study of the matter, the secretary was instructed
to advise Mr. ~~ Mrs. C,aines that the request had been denied.
Mr. Terry announced that F'~r. ~'d. Roy Letbetter had verbally submitted his resigna-
tion as a member of the ?oning & Planning Commission due to the nature of his
business prohibiting him fram attending the meetings regularly.

Motion by Mrs. Eberling, seconded by l~r. King that Mr. Letbetter's resignation
be accepted with reret.
Voting Aye: Mrs. Eberling, Mr. King, Mr. Terry
Voting Noe: Mr. Meter
(I+hr. Meter stated that he was opposed because no official letter of resignation
was submitted.)
There being no further business to come before the board,-upon motion duly
made, seconded, and carried, the meeting was adjourned.
