HomeMy WebLinkAbout02201962 ZPC Minutesl 1 C1 1 SPECIAL MEETING OF ZONING AND PLANNING BOARD TUESDAY, .FEBRUARY 20, 1962 The Zoning and Planning Board met in special session on Tuesday, February 20, 1962, with the following members present: Chairman David Hannah, presiding; Messrs. Gill, Fitzgerald and Lott. Messrs. Vest and Snyder were absent. Mr. Edmunds Travis, Jr., 2632 Pittsburg, requested permission to make repairs an to remo e an exis zng s ory garage building which was :._ built in February, 1937. Mr. Travis explained that the. garage building, which pre-dated zoning, consists of a 2-car garage below and an apart- ment of one bedroom, kitchen and bath above, and that, the stairway located within the 3 ft. setback requirement on the west side of the structure is unsafe and unusable. He stated that he proposes to move the stairway to the east side of the garage (near his house) and enclose same, and to extend the rear entry porch of his house and the roof in order to connect the garage structure by porch and roof to the house. He stated that he proposes to remove all kitchen facilities from the garage apartment and to convert the second story of the garage into only one bedroom and bath to be used as a part of his home by his mother-in-law. Mr. Travis expressed his desire of complying with the city's zoning Ordinance and stated he would execute an affidavit to the effect that the structure would not be used as a garage apartment nor for rental or commercial purposes. The Board asked Mr. Travis to submit a letter stating the facts of his request and proposed maintenance and modernization construction on his premises, which Mr. Travis agreed to do. Motion by Mr. Fitzgerald, seconded by Mr. Lott, that the Board recommend. to the City Commission that the request of Mr. Edmunds ~3ravis, Jr., 2632 Pittsburg, to perform certain repair, maintenance and modernization as outlined by Mr. Travis, to the existing garage structure, be approved, provided the existing kitchen facilities are eliminated ancl. the existing garage apartment is modernized in a manner that it will be utilized as a part of the main dwelling by members of the family; further provided. that Mr. Travis execute an affidavit that the premises will consist of only a single family dwelling unit and the garage structure will x~ot be used for rental or commercial purposes.
