The Zoning and Planning Board convened in regvl.ar session at the
City Hall on Thursday, June 8, 1961, 7s3~9 P.M., with the follo~ring

Motion by Mr. Gill, seconded by Mr. Vest, that the Board recommlend to
the Citg Commission that the request of Mrs. August Nitschman £or per-
mission to construct a 12 x 1!~ ft. utility and storage room on back of
her existing garage at 3~.~ P1.umb Street, be approved subject to the ct~ s-
truction meeting setback requirements, and provided an affidavit is
executed by I~rs. Nitchman that the addition wi11 not be used for ec;~nmer-
vial purposes or as living quarters.

Mrs. J. O. Eubanks 33~ Amherst requested the Board to recommend ap-
proval for construction o a carport in front of the existing two-car
garage to extend eastward approximately 15 feet to the .east property
Motion by Mr. Lott, seconded by Mr. 03.11, that the Board reeomznsnd that
the request of Mrs. J. O. Eubanks, 33Q2.Amherst Street, ..for permission
to construct a carport in front of the existing two-car garage to extetari
eastward approximately 15 ft. to the east property line, be approved sub-
~ect to compliance with building code requirements and provided that such
carport shall. never be enclosed on its north and south sides and further
provided that neither the roof nor any supports of such carport wi11 ex-
tend beyond the east property line of said property.

Roy Hall, representing three chapters of the Order of the Eastern Star,
again appeared before the Zoning Board and presented a written request
for the Board to recommend approval for construction of a new Eastern
Star Temple as a meeting place for three chapters°of the Oa~der of the
Eastern Star, namely,Houston Chapter No. 38~, Ransford Chapter No. 135,
and the Sunshine Chapter No. 399, on a portion of the property listed
above with improvements to the remainder of the property listed as well
as Zot lt, Block 2, Bissonnet Place, on which they have secured an option

submitted by City Attorney Charles Cockrell that the organizations are es-
sentially philanthropic in nature and a special. exception could be granted
