The Zoning and Planning Board convened in regular session at the City
Hall on Thursday, November 10, 1960, 7;30 p.m., with the following
members present; Chairman Horace Rice, presiding; Messrs. Hannah, Gill,
Hangs and Fitzgerald.
Mr. Rice submitted his resignation from the Zoning & Planning Board as
he had been elected to serve on the City Coa~ission. Mr. Dave Hannah
was utm~nimously elected to serve as Chairman of the Board and Mr. O. P.
Gill was elected to serve as Chairman Pro 'Tem.
Chairman Hannah advised that the City Commission in their meeting on
October 24, 1960, had referred the .request of ~. E. R. Rost, 6540
Sewanee, back to the Board for further consideration. It was the Com-
mission's impression that Mr. L1ost was requesting 220 volt service for
the two story garage building which is be ng use as v ng quar ers.
M'r. and Mrs. Host were present and stated they did not require or re-
quest 220-volt service in the structure but only replacement Qf the 110
volt service and a new circuit breaker to replace the old fuse ima. In
view of the additional information from Mr. & Mrs. Rost, and information
contained in a letter from the City Manager, the Heard took the follow-
ing action;
Motion by Mr. Hangs, seconded by Mr. Gill, that the Board substt~~~6e
their action of October 13, 1960, with a recd ndation that the request
of Mr. E. R• Dost, 6540 Sewanee, for permission to replace the present
fuse box on the two story garage building with a new circuit breaker
be granted; this electric service to be 110 volt and not 220 volt.
Voting Aye; All Nos None.
Mr$. Mary Alice Wheeler, 3$19 Oberlin appeared before the Hoard re-
questing pe ss on to convert the existing garage at the above address
into a utility room to nc u e ns a a on cif a water heater, service
sink an a~~, oo'r c~xain. $he explained that the concrete slab and floor
drain have been installed upon approval by the city's Building Inspector.
Motion by Mr. Gill, seconded by Mr~uA~tngs, that the Board recommend ap-
proval of Mrn. Mary Alice Wheeler's request, subject to her execution of
an affidavit that the structure will not be used for living quarters or
commercial purpose.
Voting Aye; All Nos Rone.
The Board noted that no further word had been received from Mr. H. W.
Osborne, 2809 Sunset, who had appeared before the Board on Oc~o er
1~0, requesting approval of remodeling work he has completed on hia
garage, converting the aara~e n o a s oreroomy and erection of a car-
port in front of the garage. The Board had requested Mr. Osborne to
submit a letter and sketch describing in detail the present arrange-
meat of his garage and carport. It was the Board's suggestion that the

Mr. E. E. Mitchell la' Amherst rcquested by letter dated Septem-
~er 2 , 19ba, permission tb install a lavatory and commode in the
existing room above his garage. a room now has oa y gas and electric
service, with no water. Mr. Mitchell stated that he wa~a wilting to
sign an affidavit that he will not use the room for rental property
but only as a study for his son who is a student at Rice University.
Motion by Mr. gangs, seconded by Mr. G311, that the Board recommend
that Mr. E. E. Mitchell, 313 Amherst, be granted permission to
install a lavatory and commode, (no bath or sheerer) subject to Mr.
Mitchell's execution of an affidavit to the effect that the structure
will not be used for living quarters or commercial purposes.
Voting Aye; All No: gone.
With no further business to come before the Board at this time, upon
motion duly mmcie, seconded and carried, the meeting was adjourned.
