REGULAR MEETING OF ZONING AND PLANNING BOARD THiJRSDAY, MARCH 10, 1960 The Zoning and Planning Board convened in regular session at the City HaIZ on Thursday, March 10,1960, 7:30 P.M., with the following members present: Chair- man Horace Rice, presiding; Messrs. Gill, King and Wyngarden. Mr. Hannah was' absent. Mr. A. G. Savage, 3001 Amherst, appeared before the Board in regard to property at this location, furt'ler described as Lots 16 & 17, Block 13, Rice Court Addi- tion, requesting permission to install 220 volt electric service in a garage apartment located on tl.e rear of this property. Mr. Savage advised the Board that three families now reside on the premises, one in the garage apartment, and two in the residence (duplex) on the front of Lot 16. Motion by Mr. Wyngarden, seconded by Mr. King, that the Board recommend that the request of Mr. Savage for permission to install 220 volt electric service in a garage apartment at 3001 Amherst be denied, since the structure is possibly in violation. of existing zoning laws and the request is far an installation which would enhance the value of the structure. Voting Aye: All. Voting No: None. Mr. Ralph T. Fleming, 660$ Mercer, appeared before the Board in regard to prop- erty located at 510 Wakeforest, being the East half of Lot 5, Block l8, West University Place First Addition, requesting permission to add to ar improve a two-story garage apartment located on the rear of the property. His-first pref- erence eing o a d a one-story structure 10'6" x 2~+' for use as a bedroom, " closet and bath. His next preference if the first were denied, would be to sheetrock one car space of the existing first floor garage for use as a bedroom,.. closet and bath. Mr: Fleming stated that he desired this addition to serve as a dwelling for Mrs. Flemings aged mother and father, and a first-floor bath is desired due to their advanced age and physical condition. Motion by Mr. Gill, seconded by Mr. King, that the Board recommend that the request of Mr. Ralph T. Fleming for permission to improve a garage apartment located on the rear of the property at 6510 Wakeforest be denied, since the facts reveal that the existing structure is in violation of the present zoning laws. Voting Aye; All. Voting No: None. With no further business to come before the Board at this time, the meeting was adjourned. Irma
