Hannah was absent.
N,r. B. A. Lanford, 227 University Blvd,, requested permission to build a car-
port adjacent to his p~,esent attached garage which fronts Belmont Street anc~is
10 feet from the side property line. Mr. Langford explained in his written
request that he would construct the 22~ x 25 foot carport along the south side
of his attached garage, and also that the necessity of the structure was due to
his present garage not being long enough to accommodate his two cars.
A report of the building permit for the house and attached garage revealed that
the permit ~,~as issued on May 13, 1939, at which time the Zoning Ordinance
required only a 10 foot setback from the side property line for garages, The
Ordinance was amended on September 8, 19+1 to require garages to be placed not
less than the set-back distance from any side street lines required for houses
on adjacent lots facing such side street line.
Motion by Mr. Wilson, seconded by Mr. Rice, that the Board recommend to the
City Commission that the request be granted since there is apparently no
other satisfactory manner of housing his cars; and also due to his present
garage being constructed only 10 feet from the property line.

made, seconded and carried, the meeting was adjourned. ,
