REGULAR MEETING OF ZONING AND PLANNING BOARD
APRIL 11, 1957
The Zoning and Planning Board convened in regular session at the City Hall on
Thursday, April 11, 1957, with the following members present: Mr. M. C. Halberts
presiding; Messrs. Davis, Made ley, Rice and Wilson. Mr. Hannah was. absent.
bir. B. A. Lanford, 2927 University Blvd., appeared before the Board requesting
permission to wild onto the front of his ~ara~;e approximately 5 feet which would
extend into the squired setback area. The Board asked an opportunity to view
the premises before any action was taken, which was agreeable to Mr. Lanford.
Mr. W. J. Trahan, 3521 Nottingham, requested. permission to install 220 electrical
service in an existing garage apartment which fronts on Mercer Street.
Motion by Mr. Madeley, seconded by Mr. Rice that the Board recommend to the City
Commission that installation of 220 electrical service in the existing garage
.apartment at 3521 Nottingham be denied, as the building was erected in 1938 for
use as servant's quarters and use as a garage apartment is a direct violation of
the Zoning Ordinance.

Mr. and Mrs. William Narum, 26~+1J Barbara Lane, requested permission to ,;1-7.1
220 electrical service in an existing garage apartment at this address in order

Motion by Mr. Wilson, seconded by Mar. Davis., that the Board recos~end to the City
Commission that the request of Mr. and Mrs. William Narum to install 220 elec-
trieal service 3n the existing garage apartment be denied.

Mr. A. W. Jackson 6~+0~+ Brompton_at Duke, requested approval for construction of a
car rt extending-i~to~the require 'setback area along Duke Street.
Motion by Mar. Madeley, seconded by Mr. Ricer that the Board recoupend to the City
Commission that the request of Mr. A. W. Jackson for approval of the construction
of a carport extending into the required setback area be denied, and if a permit
for a carport is issued, it should require that the proper setback requirements
are met.
Voting Ayet All Not None
Mr. J. W. Sauer, 3913 Oberlin, requested permission to build an apartment over the
existing 2-car garage for occupancy by his son and daughter-in-law. Mr. Sauer
stated tha~ie w u~xecute an affidavit that the premises would, not be rented
and if the son moved all fixtures would be removed from the apartment. After dis-
cussion with Mr. Sauer, the request was withdrawn.
