REGULAR METING OF ZONING & PLANNING BOARD
DUNE 1~+, 1956
The Zoning & Planning Board convened in regular session at the City Hall,
Thursday, 7:30 P,M., with the following members present: Mr. M. C. Halbert,
presiding; Messrs. A. G. Davis, David Hannah, and Charlie Wilson.'
Mr. L. F. Durgin, 542+ Fairmount, appeared before the Board requesting the
Board to recommend issuance of a rmit far se rate el ctr e s to a
garage apartment which he owns at 201 Dartmouth adjacent to his residence.
No action was taken at this time, as members of the Board desired to see the
property and make a further study of the request. -
Mrs. Ullrieh, x+019 Browning, appeared before the Board ~.dvising that she had
obtained a permit to repair a garage apartment located on her premises which
was recently damaged by fire, but sh- a was now desirous of adding additional
space, and the workmen had been stopped by the Building Inspector as the
pert as issued did nat include additional floor space. The Board advised
Mrs. U1lrich to submit her request in writing with a sketch of the proposed
addition to the garage apartment.
Mr. Earl M. Morin, representing a grou of property owners on Bissonnet
Street in the 33, 3~+ and 3 00, and one owner in the 3000 block, requested
the Board to recommen a rezon ng o ear roper y ram residential to
business. No action was taken on the request pending further study.
Mr. F. P. McSkimming of McSk~.mming Realt and Mr. John Cardone, prospective
purchaser of property at~00 Ta~yley, advised the Board that Mr. Cardone
desired to improve the~gara~e apartment at this address in order that his

Mother and Father might have separate living quarters. on the same property.
The Board was advised that the living quarters were constructed in 1938 as
servants' quarters.
Motion by Mr. Davis, seconded by Mr. Wilson that the Board recommend denial
of the request of Mr. John Cardone to improve the garage apartment in
order to make two living units on the property at 3006 Tangley for reason
that the property is located in a single family residential area.
Voting Aye: All No: None
Mr. E. M. Carlisle 2932 Lafa ette, requested permission to construct an
additional room 12 x 2 Ft. to the west side of the existing residence, which
would extend 1 Ft. into the required 5 Ft. setback on Belmont St.
Motion by Mr. Wilson, seconded by Mr. Hannah, that the Board recommend to the
City Commission that the request of Mr. E. M. Carlisle, 2932 Lafayette, to
extend an addition to his residence 1 Ft. into the required 5 Ft, setback on
Belmont Street be denied.

Mr. 0. K. Eden, 3703 Robinhood, applied to the Board for permission to build

a storage and utility room approximately 7 x 9 Ft. on the rear of his existing

garage.
Motion by Mr. Davis, seconded by Mr. Wilson that the Board recommend approval
of the request of Mr. 0. K. Eden, 3703 Robinhood, for permission to build a
storage and utility room approximately 7 x 9 Ft. on the rear of his existing
garage, subject to execution of the usual affidavit that the structure will
not be used for commercial purposes and subject to conformance with specified
_ setback requirements.
Voting Aye: All No; None
Mr. Herbert C. Graham, 2815 Duke, again appeared before. the Board with refer-
ence to his request for permission to extend his existing ~ara~,e building
~+ Ft. into the rear lot setback. Mr. Graham advised that he had made arrange-
ments with Mr. T. P. Kelly to purchase a strip of land 5 x 60 Ft. from the
northeast corner of his lot being the West 1~2 of Lot 5, Block lg, WUP 1st
Addition.
Motion by Mr. Hannah,. seconded by Mr. A. G. Davis, that Mr. Graham be permitted
to extend his existing garage building 4 Ft, into the rear lot setback if 5 Ft.
of additional property is acquired from the adjoining property to the south in
order that the. required 5 Ft. setback requirement might be adhered to.

Owners of property on Stella Link Road, No:
being a part None
of Lot 5 and all of Lot.
,_ Block Z and all of Block 2, Cunningham Terrace, appeared before the Baard
asking information regarding a proposed application for permission to erect
a multiple story office building and using Block 2, Cunningham Terrace as
par ng area. ey were advise that a request of this type would be con-
sidered.
Owners of property on Bissonnet Street in the 28 and 2800 blocks again
appeared before the Board in regard to their proposed application for rezonit~
property in these blocks for commercial use. They were also advised that their
proposed application would be considered.
With no further business to come before the Board at this time, upon motion
duly made, seconded end carried, the meeting was adjourned.
