HomeMy WebLinkAbout08111955 ZPC Minutes MINiJTES OF REGULAR MEETING OF ZONING & PLANNING BOARD AUGUST 11, 1955 The Zoning and Planning Board convened in regular session. on Thursday, August ll, 1955,.7:30 P.M. at the City Hall, with the following members present: pir. M. C, Halbert, presiding;. Messrs.. Roy Maley, A. G. Davis and Charlie Wilson. Messrs. E. R_. Davis, and David Hannah were absent as they were out of the city on vacation. Mr. Andrew Laird, 3020 Georgetown requested perrr-ission to replace his present small garage with a new 20x2? Ft. building to accommodate two cars. Because of the location of the house, it would be necessary to extend the new garage to within ane foot of the side lot line in order to provide space for two ears to enter the building. P~lr. Laird advised that he had checked with the neighbors and there was no objection on their part. He had also offered to purchase two feet from the next lot but was stymied by a loan on the property. Motion by Mr. Wilson,, seconded by Mr. Maley' that the Board recommend approval of the request. of Mr. Andrew Laird to erect a new garage to extend to within one foot of the side property line. Voting. Aye: .All No: None Mrs. John L. Reeves, prospective purchaser of the property at 337- Ro inhood, and Mr. C. G. Farrington, Agents appeared before the Board .and requested permission to remodel the house at this address and convert the present garage1 service porch and kitchen into separate living. gi~ters including kitchenette and bath to be occupied by Mr. Reeves elderly sister. r1rs. Reeves stated that. .they were willing to execute an affidavit to become a part of the deed,, that the property would not be used for rental purposes and in case of resale they would remove the second kitchen facilities. Motion by Mr. I'ialey, seconded by Mr. Davis that the request of Mrs. Reeves for remodeling the residence at 33111. Robinhood and making a two-family dwelling be denied for reason that the zoning ordinance restricts the property to a single family residence.
