REGULAR MEETING
ZONIlVG AND PLANNING COMMISSION
SEPTEMBER 14, 1967
The Zoning and Planning Commission of the City of West University Place convened
in regular session at the City Hall on Thursday, September 14, 1967, 7:30 p.m,,
with the following members present: Chairman Hannah, presiding; Members Bricker,
Hilton and Lot.
Chairman Hannah announced that a public hearing had been called .for 7:30 p. m. to
hear all interest persons in connection with the subdivision of a lot. He stated
that notices were mailed toa 11 property owners within 200 feet of Lot 3, Block 33,
West University Place First Addition on August 25, 1967, and that notice cf public
hearing was published in the Houston Chronicle on August 30, 1967. There were no
persons present for the hearing.
Chairman Hannah stated than an application had been filed on August 10, 1967 by
Mr. Simeon 0. Shields, owner of the lot under consideration, requesting that the
lot be subdivided into two lots each 50 x 150 feet, fronting on Westchester. A
plot plan of the property was filed with the application, which showed a porch
extending around the house which extended into the required setback area. A
letter from Mr. Wayne L. Beckner, contractor was presented which stated that this
porch was bein emoved from the house.. The Commission was also advised that a
visual inspecti n had been made by the City Engineer which revealed that the porch
was in fact being removed,: and that there would this be sufficient open space to
allow subdivision as requested. .Chairman Hannah s ated that no letters had been
received from property owners in the area, wither opposing or recommending sub-
division. Motion by ,r. sticker, seconded by Mr Lot, that Lot 3, Block 33, West
University Place First Addition, be subdivied into two lots each 50 x 150 feet,
each fronting on Westchester,. as requested by the owner, provided that any struc-
ture erected comply in all things with the building code and setback requirements
of the City of West University Place.

Mr. William G. Pollard, representing Jack Pollard and Robert Ray, owners of Lot 5,
Block 5, Preston Place, said property located at the NW corner of Plumb and Kirby,
appeared before the. Zoning and Planning Commission in regard to the letter written
to the Commission on May 11, 1967 requesting that this lot be rezoned for parking
in connection with retail business use. The Commission advised Mr. Pollard that no
action had been taken on this request, and that if such action were taken it would
be as park of an over-all master plan for anumber of vacant lots and lots in a
similar situation throughout the city. Mr. Pollard thanked the Commission for
their consideration and left the meeting at this time.
With no further business to come before the Commission at this time, upon motion
duly made, seconded and carried, the meeting was ad' urned.
