HomeMy WebLinkAbout11081977 ZPC Minutes REGULAR MEETING ZONING AND PLANNING COMMISSION NOVEMBER 8, 1977 The Zoning and Planning Commission of the City of West University Place convened in regular session on Tuesday, November 8, 1977, 7:30 p.m., with the following members present: Chairman Norton, presiding; Members Casey, Johnson, LaCook and Nuffer. The Chairman ascertained from the secretary that proper notice of the meeting had been posted at the City Hall three days prior to the scheduled meeting. Mr. Mike Meyers, architect with John Kirksey Associates, Architects, presented preliminary and final plans on behalf of the owner,Antonio Simon, for the con- struction of townhouses on Lots 7 ~ 8,-Block 2 Belle Court Addition 2700 Block of Bellaire Boulevard. Mr. Meyers stated the plans specified four townhouses of traditional architecture constructed of red or reddish brown .brick to give a feeling of brownstone and pre- sented pictures of townhouses recently designed by his firm of similar style. Discussion of the plans included availibility of utilities, height, width of drive- ways, turning radius, drainage and green areas. Motion by Mr. LaCook, that the preliminary and final plans for the construction of townhouses on Lots -7 & 8, Block 2 Belle Court Addition be approved as presented subjecto to compliance with building code and other giverningordinances, whether or not herein specified, for any subsequent con- struction. Mr. Johnson seconded the motion and added an amendment to require the placement of adequate graphis to entrance (east driveway) and exit (west driveway) and interpre- tation of adequate being left to the Building Inspector. Mr. LaCook accepted the amendment. Particular attention was given to the interpretation of Section 1, Sub-Section N.1 of Ordinance No. 1025 in connection with. the width of the west driveway on the..pro- posed plans and the turning .radius at the northwest corner during the discussion of the motion. Mr. LaCook withdrew his motion. Motion by Mr. .Johnson, seconded by Mr. LaCook, that preliminary and final plans for the construction of townhouses on Lots 7 & 8, Block 2 Belle Court Addition be approved as presented with the following revisions: 1. Adequate graphics to be placed at entrance .(east driveway) and exit (west driveway). 2. Four guest parking spaces be provided instead of five. (Removal of parking space at northwest corner. 3. Removal of 2'7" green strip along north property line and carrying of driveway to the fence. 4. Revised site plan. to be submitted for signature approval by Chairman and Secretary. and subject to compliance with building code and other governing ordinances, whether or not herein specified, for any subsequent construction. Voting Aye: All Voting No: None Minutes of the regular meeting of the Zoning and Planning Commission on October 11, 1977 were approved as submitted.
