The Zoning and Planning Commission of the City of West University Place met in regular session at the City Hall on Tuesday, January 8, 197 with the following members present: Roland E. Dahlin, Vice-Chairman, presiding; Members 0. C. Bartholomew, W. Peter Lipscomb, and H. Allen Weatherby. E. Gene Hines, chair- man, was out of town on business. ~~+ The following letter from City Manager Whitt Johnson to Mr. Jim Hammond, Chairman, Board of Deacons, West University Baptist Church, was presented to the Commission ~ for their information: ,-J V Mr. Jim Hammond, Chairman Board of Deacons West University Baptist Church 5222 North Braeswood Houston, Texas Dear Mr. Hammond: This is to advice you that the City Commission and Zoning and Planning Commission have approved the request of the West University Baptist Church, submitted through you as Chairman of the Board of Deacons, for permission to use Lot 6, Block 1$, College View First Addition, such property being owned by the church, and also permission to use city property described as the West 1/2 of Lot 7, Block 18, College View First Addition (25" in width)... On Decem~her 17th the City Commission passed Resolution No. 73-33 granting permission to your church to use and hard surface the west 1/2 of Lot 7. Enclosed are copies of letters and the Resolution pertaining to the use of Lot 6 and the west 1/2 of Lot 7 for use as a p~.rking lot as heretofore described. Copy of letter dated December 6, 1973 from Dr. W. Leray Fowler and and James Hammond to Mayor Don Harris. Copy of letter dated December 7, 1973 from City Attorney Charles Cockrell to the Mayor and City Commission. Copy of letter dated December 13, 1973 from E. Gene Hines, Chairman of the Zoning and Planning Commission to Mayor Harris. Copy of Resolution No. 73-33. Extract from minutes of the City Commission meeting of December 10, 1973. We will give you written instructions concerning the setback lines for the property and the screening and the necessary drainage. you are authorized to proceed with the rough grading and fill on the lot and a half. Gene Hines ThP minutes of the meeting of the City Commission on December 10, 1973 were presented for the information of the Zoning and Planning Commiss- ion and briefltr reviewed. Mr. Dahlin reported that he and Mr. Hines had met informally as planned and ti*orked on the preamble, aims and orjectives for-the introductory statement for the recommendation from the Zoning and Planning Commiss- ion t© the City Commission concerning rezoning of certain areas of the. city. The minutes of the regular meeting of the Zoning and Planning Commiss- ion on December ll, 1973 were approved as submitted. There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time on motion duly made, seconded and carried, the meeting adjourned at 8:15 p.m. ~~~ Chairman ATTEST: Secretary 1
