AND PLANNING COMMISSION MAY 15, 1981 The Zoning and Planning Commission of the City of West University Place convened in special session at the City Hall, Friday,. May 15, 1981, 7:30 p.m., with the following members present: Chairman Casey, presiding; members Abell, Allen and Norton. Notice of meeting was. posted in the City Hall on May 11, 1981. Dr. William Attra, President, St.George Orthodox Church, statated that at the time they appeared before the Commission concerning the rezoning of a portion of their property they were unaware they had a problem with a screening fence on the north property line. (This property is described as Lot 1, Block 92, West University Place 2nd Addition.) It .was explained that the lot as originally dedicated faces Bissonnet St. and the plans for a remodeled meeting hall include a screening fence, or wall extending beyond the main .building line. This is prohibited by the fence ordinance in the front setback. They are asking the Commission to rededicate the lot to face Mercer Sr. thereby locating the fence on the side of the lot in which the wall would not be in violation. He stated that the sanctuary and the existing building which is being added to and remodeled have faced Mercer Street for over ten years. Members discussed the restructiog of a twenty foot setback on the south of the lot which adjoins single family dwellings. Motion by Mr. Norton, seconded by Mr. Abell, that Lot 1, Block 92 West University Place 2nd Addition be re-dedicated from facing Bissonnet to facing Mercer St. with the restriction that there be a twenty (20) foot side setback requirement from the south property line. Voting Aye: All Voting No: None Mr. Attra asked that the minutes reflect their apologies for bringing the members out on a special meeting and wished to thank all of the Commission members and all others of the administration of the City of West University Place for their coope- ration and help in solving the problems they have had in their remodeling project. With no further business to come before the Commission, upon motion duly made, seconded and carried, the meeting adjourned. ~~ Chairman
