'; REGULAR, MEETING OF ZONl~TG AND PLANNING COMMISSION OCTOBER 13, 19EE 1 The Zoning and Planning Commission of the .City ofWest University Place convened in regular session at the City Hall on' Thursday, October l3, 19EE, 7:30 p.m., with the following members present: Chairman Hannah, presiding; Members Bricker., Hilton and Hines. ~ ` .~ r Mr: Loys E. Vest, Chairman of the Committee for Rezoning'for~th_e.West University Baptist Church, together with his other committee members, Mr. Ed King, Mr. John Hughens and Architect Kelly Gaffney, appeared. before the Commission requesting rezoning of Lot `6, Bloch 19, Co1l.ege- view First Addition, for church use. They stated. that their church desired to erect a new educational building on Lots 6 and 7, .Block 19 Collegeview First Addition (Lot 7 is already zoned for church use), and that Lots 11, 13, 14 and 15, Block 15, Collegeview Third Addition were - to be used for parking purposes. They presented plans and a drawing by the architect, on which a number of the residents in Block 19,,fronting on Amherst Street, had signed their names evidencing their approval of the proposed construction. Mr. Gaffney explained that .additional park- ing facilities would be gained, as the house across the street on church owned property would be torn down and the area used for parking, if their request were approved. It was stated that .they plan to begin construction during the next year, if the property is rezoned fm this purpose. There was discussion concerning the use of-the lots across the street in the 3800 block of Milton Street, to be used for church parking area. The Church Committee decided that .this property should be included in the application for rezoning for church use. Motion by Mr. Hines, seconded by Mr. Bricker that apub lic hearing be called for.7:30 p.m. on November 10, 1gE6, for the purpose of hearing all interested parties in connection with the application of the West University Baptist Church, filed on September 29, 196E, and that proper legal notice be given. Voting Aye: Members Hannah, Bricker and Hines Voting No: :None Mr. Hilton abstained from voting:,. as he is a member of the West University Baptist Church. PRELIMINARY REPORT OF THE ZONING AND PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF WEST UNIVERSITY PLACE, CONCERNING PROPOSED REZONING FOR CHURCH USE OF LOTS 11, 13, 14 AND 1}, BLOCK 15, COLLEGEVIEW THIRD ADDITION, AND LOT 6, BLOCK 19, COLLEGEVIEW FIRST ADDITION. TO THE HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION: CITY OF WEST UNIVERSITY PLACE, TEXAS Consideration has been given to the application of the West University Baptist Church on September 29, 1966 for rezoning of Lots ll, 13,.14 and 15, Block 15, Collegeview Third. Addition and Lot 6, Block 19, Collegeview First Addition for church use. Plans and architectural drawings have been submitted to the Zoning and Planning Commission, showing a proposed Educational Building to be erected on Lot 6 and 7, Block 19, Collegeview First Addition. Lot` 7 has already been rezoned for church use and is presently used as such. The other lots involved are across the street from the church building., but are used for church parking, being Lots 13, 14 and 15, Block 15, Collegeview Third Addition. Lot 11, Block 15 is also owned by the church and there is an existing. residence on this lot. After consideration of this application submitted by the church,-the Zoning and Planning Commission feels that the request of the church has merit, and warrants further consideration. The Zoning and Planning Commission has therefore called a public hearing for the date of November 10, 1866. After such hearing is held, the Final Report of the Zoning and Planning Commission will be submitted to the City Commission.
