REGULAR MEETING OF ZONING AND PLANNING COMMISSION
MAY 12, 1866
The Zoning and Planning Commission of the City of West University Place
convened in regular session at the City Ha11 on Thursday, May l2, 1966
at 7;3d p.m., with the following members present:: Chairman Hannah,
.presiding; Members Bricker, Hilton, Hines and Lott..
Motion by Mr. Bricker, seconded by Mr. Hilton, that the Public Hearing..
called for 7;30 p.m. to consider subdivision of a lot be .opened.
Voting Aye: All' Voting No: None
Chairman Hannah announced that Application number. 66-5 was filed nn
April 20, 1966 requested subdivision of Lot 1, Block 38, West Unver-
sity Place First Addition into two lots, each 50 X,150 feet to front
on Westchester, by Mr. Paul Canto, owner. He stated that for the
record, notice was published in the Southwest P ach Section of the
Houston .Chronicle on April 27, 1966 and that notices of the hearing
were mailed to all property owners within 200 feet of the property
on April 25, 1966.
Mr. Paul Canto, 3303 Sunset, owner of the property, and Mr. George
Scofield, 6638 Westchester, who lives next door to the property, were
present at the hearing.
Mr. Canto ad~rised the~Commission that he is in the process of tearing
down the old YiQZx~e now 'on the lot, and that if the lot is subdivided
he plan's to construct 'two new ~I--bedroom homes. on the property.

Mr. George ~S~dof'e1c1' 6~~8 Westchester, stated that he had no oppo-
sition to the subdivision of the lot, but that he would like to-call
to the attention of the proper persons. that there is a sanitary sewer
problem in connection with the property and his property, as the
sewer ends on his property and backs. up at the sewer, clean-out on his
property. The Commission advised Mr. Scofield that the proper persons
would be notified of this condition, sothat it could be corrected.
There being no further g,uestions of the applicant, the following action
was taken: Motion by Mr. Hines, seconded by Mr. Hilton that the public
hearing be closed.
Voting Aye: All
Voting No: None
Motion by Mr. Lott, seconded by Mr. Hilton, that application number 66-5
submitted by Mr. Paul Canto, owner of Lot 1, Block 38, West University
Place First Addition be approved, and that this. lot be subdivided into

on the property comply in all things with existing codes and ordi-
nances of the City of West University Place.
Voting Aye.: All
Voting No: None.
Chairman Hannah presented an application filed by Mrs. M. E. Schultz,
owner of Lot 22, Block 6, College Court Addition, being 4226 Emory
Street, requesting permission to construct two townhouses on the
property. She desired to tear down the existing. .residence and build
the townhouses. -After discussion, the following action was taken
by the Commission.

Motion by Mr. Hines, seconded by Mr. Lott that the request of Mrs.
M.O. Schultz for permission to construct .two townhouses on Lot 22,
Block 6, College Court Addition at 4226 Emory Street be denied,
inasmuch as the entire area is zoned for single-family residences
and is already almost 100f_built up with single-family residences.
Voting :Aye: ..All Voting No: None
There was discussion concerning establishing parking regulations,
which had previously been given consideration by the Zoning and
Planning Commission. It was decided that further action would be
taken on this matter at the next regular meetin of the Commission.
With no further business. to come before the C ission,~at this ;
