HomeMy WebLinkAbout10031972 ZPC Minutes~9 REGULAR MEETING ZONING AND PLANNII~'G COMMISSION OCTOBER 3, 1972 The Zoning and Planning Commission of the City of West University Place con- vened in regular session at the City Hall, 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, October 3, 1972, with the following members present: Chairman E. Jere Hines, presiding; Mem- bers L. B. Bricker, :~. C. Caldwell, Roland E. Dahlin, and H. Allen Weatherby. Mr. E. D. Ainsworth, 6319 Westchester, appeared before the Commission to discuss ~ u ure use o G~2 ~ Lots 6, 7, $, 9, 10' Block B ~ Pemberton Addition. V ~"~ These lots are located on the southwest corner of University Boulevard and Kirby. Drive, fronting on University Boulevard. The Chairman advised Mr. Ainsworth that these lots are now zoned for single- family dwellings, and have been included in the current study the Commission is preparing and that it is his personal feeling that inasmuch as they are the "front doorTM to West L°niversity Place they should be kept residenti~a in character. Also, to take only a few lots and change the zoning to something other than the adjacent lots would constitute "spot" zoning, which is very poor planning. All members of the Commission concurred with Mr. Hines' statements. Mr. J. L. Parish, x.007 Browning, and Mr. Emil Kubala, l~O11 Browning, appeared e are e o ssion to discuss posse a rezon g of Lots $, 9, ~. 10, Block 3 Bissonnet Place Addition, whic2-i are ooned jcintly by them, for town~iouses. These lots are on the southwest corner ~.Weslayan and Browning Streets, fronting on Browning Street. N:essrs. Parish and Kubala were advised the Comission is now studying the entire peripheral area of TrJest University Place with intent to recommend to the City Commdssion some changes in land uses of the peripheral properties and that the whole area where these lots are located is included in the study. The Chairman thanked them for coming and assured teem their suggestions a.nd interest is most appreciated. Mr. Jim Russell appeared before the Commission concerning his applications for rezoning certain properties he owns on Bellaire Boulevard (Descriptions-Minutes 9-1°-72) for construction of a financial institution and/or. office buildings:. Nx. F.ussell was advised the Commission had discussed his applications at length, but had not taken action as yet because of the conflicting schedule with their proposed recorrunendations to the City Commission on changes of land use on periph- eral properties in the City, whicr. they plan to complete within the next few weeks. ~~ Mr. Russell was agreeable to wait .for action on his applications until the Zoning and Planning Commission's recommendations are made to the City Commis- sion.
