REGULAR MEETING
ZONING ~ PLANNING COMMISSION
JUNE 17, 1982
The Zoning and Planning Commission of the City of West University Place
convened in regular session at the City. Hall, Thursday, June 17, 1982,
at 7:30 p.m, with the .following members present: Chairman Casey, presiding;
Members Abell and Allen present.
Chairman Casey ascertained that notice of the meeting had been posted
three (3) days prior to the meeting and that notice of the Public Hearing
had been published June 1, 1982 and letters to property owners had been
mailed on May 31, 1982.
Motion was made by Mr. Abell, seconded by ~4r. Allen to consider the
application from James 0. Choate and Evin Thayer to subdivide:
Lot 12, Block 12
West University Place 1st
6445 Buffalo Speedway
into two (2) lots, each 50' x 140', each facing Buffalo Speedway, be opened.
All in favor:
Mr. Casey explained the procedure to be followed and administered oath to
those in the audience desiring to be heard on the application, #82-4.

Mr. Thayer stated that he wished to subdivide the above Lot into two (2)
lots and build two (2) houses on same. He stated that he had canvased the
neighborhood and 7 out of 10 people had no objections to the subdivision.
The following correspondence was read to the audience by Mr. Casey concerning
the subdivision:

Mr. Abell made a motion that the application to subdivide the property known
as Lot 12, Block 12, WUP 1st. 6445 Buffalo Speedway be DENIED. Seconded
by Mr. Allen.
All in favor. Motion Carried.
Commission members discussed at length the benefits to the City and what
problems there was for the citizens of West University Place in this regard
and how a subdivision would adversely affect the city in terms of health,
welfare, property values, etc...

The next item on the Agenda was the request to rezone the area of College
Court Place.
Mr. Casey asked if either applicant for the request was present. They were
not.
After lengthy discussion Mr. Allen made a motion to reject the application
of College Court Place. Mr. Abell seconded the motion.
4Uith no further business to come before the Commission, upon motion duly
made by Mr. Casey to adjourn the meeting, and seconded by Mr. Allen, the
meeting adjourned at 10:30 p.m.
