HomeMy WebLinkAbout05131982 ZPC Minutes (2)REGULAR MEETING ZONING AND PLANNING COMMISSION MAY 13. 1982 The Zoning and Planning Commission of the City of West University Place convened in regular session at the City Hall, Thursday, P~1ay 13, 1982, 7:30 p.m. with the following members present: Chairman Casey, presiding; Members Abell and Norton, Allen-present. Not present: Farrell The Chairman ascertained that the Notice of 'Meeting was posted in the City Hall on T<4ay 7, 1982 and the Notice of Public Hearing was published in the Houston Chronicle on April 27, 1982. Motion was made by P.lr. Abell and seconded by Dir. Norton to hold a public Hearing to consider application, docket No. 82-2 submitted by D4r. Buck Phillips to subdivide: Q Lot 12, Block 39, WUP 1st. 6645 Westchester into two (2) .lots. All in favor. Motion Carried. Mr. Phillips approached the Board. He stated that he had purchased the above property in 1940. He purcha sed two (2) lots, Lot A and Lot B, which divides on Cason. Lot A is 50' x 100' and Lot B is 100' x 100'. He was of the opinion (Grandfather's C be re-divided. lause) that since it had been divided, it could Mr. Casey asked Mr. Phillips if he purchased L ot A and Lot B in two (2) tracts. Mr. Phillips said " yes". Mr. Casey asked if a survey had been made at that time. Mr. Phillips stated "no". Mr. Casey asked if the two (2) Lots now make up the total of Lot 12, Block 39, 100' x 150'. Phillips replied "yes". Mr. Phillips stated that on the tax roll it is listed as Lot~12A and Lot 12B. Mr. Casey asked if there was anyone who would like to speak out on behalf of the applicant. Mr. Phillips? Ms. Cynthia Porter, one of the potential purchasers of the proposed subdivided property spoke. She stated that they wished to sub-divide the property in c{uestion making the property division 50' x 150' instead of 100' x 150'. They plan to build two single family homes. 9'7 Mr. Robert Kendrick at 6324 Rutgers stated that he was in favor of the subdividing of Lot 12A and Lot 12B. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mr. Casey asked to hear from all those who are opposed to the application to divide Lot 12A and Lot 12B. Mr. Jim blcDaniels porduced a document signed by the surrounding neighbors opposed to the dividing of the property. The document was signed by Bessie Wendt; J.M. Hunt; Joseph Sciulli, Mr. ~ t4rs. Paul D. Jones; Mr. and Mrs. P.E. Martin, Mr. ~ Mrs. F.H. jt~hite and himself. After much discussion, Chairman Casey entertained a motion to close the Public Hearing. Mr. Abell made a motion to close the Public Hearing. Mr. Norton seconded the motion. Brief Intermission: A motion was made by D4r. Abell to call the meeting to order to consider application #82-3 from Eugene Cook to subdivide: Lot 6, Block 32, WUP 1st 6506 Rutgers into two (2) lots: All in favor. After lengthy discussion the matter was tabled for further discussion.. Townhome developers T.H. McGregor. and Bob Beamon inquired regarding re-zoning of lots in the College Courts addition. Mr. Casey advised the developers to file application for Public Hearing with the Building Inspectors office. Mr. Casey, Abell, ~ Norton agreed to delay their decision until May 20th., 1982. With no further business to come before the Commission, upon motion duly made by Mr. Abell to adjourn the meeting, and seconded by Mr. Allen the meeting adjourned at 10:30 p.m. ~ ~ ~ .~ _ Chairman i ~`
