HomeMy WebLinkAbout11141985 ZPC Minutes~ ~, a ~ ~- ~ jv'~ J ~ ~ REGULAR MEETING • ~ !~ ~ ZONING AND PLANNING COMMISSION NOVEMBER 14~;- 1985 ................. u The Zoning and Planning Commission of the City of West University Place, Texas, convened in regular sessi:on at tfie City Hall on Thursday, Novem- ber 14, 1985, with the following memliers present: Chairperson Reid Wilson, Charles Lusk, George Ruhlen, Susan Rachlin, and Robert Lindsey. Chief Building Inspector, Wayne E. Perry, was also nresent. Chairperson Wilson introduced himself, followed by other members, and as- certained that Notice of Meeting fiad been posted in the City Hall as re- quired by State Statutes. The minutes of the Public Hearing on October 23, 1985 were reviewed by the members of the Commission. Mr. Ruhlen moved to approve the minutes, seconded by Mr. Lusk, and passed unanimously. HEARING OF RESIDENTS: Mr. Ron Taliaferro, 2736 Bellaire Boulevard, approach- ed the Commission to consider a possi6le rezoning and use of an area east of Brompton facing Bellaire to be used as a retirement facility complex. Chair- person Wilson advised Mr. Taliaferro that the property would have to be rezoned and, therefore, he would have to make application for rezoning to the Zoning and Planning Commission. Mrs. Peggy Cannon of 2703 Sunset appeared and spoke to the Commission con- cerning the problems that have been encountered on Sunset with parking from the adjacent retail business area. Chairperson Wilson advised Mrs. Cannon that the Commission will consider the problems, i.e. parking, traffic, buf- fering, and loading zones, and suggest amendments to the Zoning Ordinance. Ms. Davis and Mr. Carl Willardford, representatives from the Houston-Galves- ton Area Council, spoke to the Commission and were given copies of the City's Zoning Ordinances for their review to help in answering questions and in de- liberations for the Commission':s review of tfie Zoning Ordinances. The Commission held a leng"thy workshop session to discuss the proposed changes of Zoning Ordinance No. 111. Upon motion duly made, seconded and carried, the meeting adjourned at 12:40 A.M. ~
