HomeMy WebLinkAbout06121986 ZPC Minutes~ ~ ~ JUNE 12, 1986 / O/~~ *~*~******~~~*~*~*~~*~************************~*** REGULAR MEETING ZONING AND PLANNING COMMISSION ~~ The Zoning and Planning Commission of the City of West University Place convened in regular session in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 3800 University Boulevard, Houston, Texas on Thursday, June 12, 1986 at 7:45 p.m. with the following members present: Reid Wilson, presiding; memb~rs George Ruhlen, Robert Lindsey, Susan Rachlin. City~'Attorney, James L. Dougherty, and Chief Building.Inspector, [dayne E. Perry were also present. Notice of Meeting was posted in the City Hall on June 9, 1986 in accordance with State Statutes. Motion by Mr. Ruhlen, seconded by Mr. Lindsey, to approve minutes of February 13, 1986,-.as:-modt£ied, March 13, 1986 and April 10, 1986; passed~unan- fmously:.~-. Hearing of Residents: There were no matters or inquiries to bring before the Commission. A discussion was held by Commission members on the parking requirements on Edloe and University Blvd. During questioning and review by Commission members and Cfiief Building Inspector, Wayne E. Perry, it was determined that the existing str.ucture on the corner of Edloe and University Blvd. use was as a rental-retail space. Issues discussed were the non-conforming use with regard to the~Parking Ordinance frouL retail to restaurant. At.tfie invitation of the Commission, Mr. Jim Dickerson presented his comments on the proposed restaurant he is planning to open on Edloe and University. During discussion, the Commission questioned the parking requirements for the proposed restaurant and determined there were not enough=parking spaces to conform with the parking ordinance. The Commission recommended to Mr. Dickerson to apply to the Zoning Board of Ad~ustment.for a variance on the parking requirements for tfie proposed restaurant. Commission members reviewed the proposed corrections to the zoning map• Upon motion duly made, seconded and carried, the meeting adjourned at 9:30 p.m. ~
