The General Appeals Board convened in regular session in the Municipal Building, 3800 University Boulevard, in the City of West University Place, on Monday, May 14, 1990, with the following members present: Philip C. Lewis, John M. Farrell and Sharon Mathews. Also present were Wayne Perry, Chief Building Official and Cecil Boles, Assistant Chief Building Official. Mr. Lewis called the regular meeting of the General Appeals Board to order. COMMENTS OF CONCERNED RESIDENTS: Mr. Lewis invited residents to speak who had matters they wished to bring to the attention of the General Appeals Board. There were none present who wished to speak. CONSIDERATION OF 3112 AMHERST: As Mr. Hollis was out of town, • Ted Green, Attorney, was at the meeting to represent him. Mr. Green presented the Board with copies of a contract for the roofing of 3112 Amherst dated November 1989. As of this date, a permit for roofing had not been applied for in the Inspection Division. Motion made by John Farrell, seconded by Sharon Nathews, that the requirements be extended from April 8, 1990 to May 23, 1990, for having pulled the permit to commence work on roof and facia repair and replacement on property at 3112 Amherst and with the provision that Mr. Perry's division to monitor and if work is not performed, this address is to be placed on agenda for next month. Voting Aye: Philip Lewis, John Farrell, Sharon Mathews Voting No: None Absent: Nicholas Aschliman, Alternate Mr. Lewis confirmed that Mr. Green will inform Mike Hollis of the decision of the General Appeals Board and that further notification from this Board to Mr. Hollis will not be necessary. ~ S. ,~~' General Appeals Board Meeting, May 14, 1990 • CONSIDERATION OF 3803 RICE BOULEVARD: Ray Riley, Attorney, presented the application to the Board stating Clyde C. and Jenny K. Coon are requesting permission to construct two separate driveways on their residential property located at 3803 Rice when demolishing their present dwelling and constructing a new residence. Adams Architects, Inc. presented architectural drawings of proposed new residence at 3803 Rice showing the dwelling and the two driveways. After discussion, Mr. Lewis asked at this time that further comments be held on this particular item as there is an identical item on the agenda at 5612 Buffalo Speedway. CONSIDERATION OF 5612 BUFFALO SPEEDWAY: Scott Carlson and his architect informed the Board of their desire to construct a loop drive with two curb cuts as this configuration would decrease the paved area in the front yard and consolidate smaller less effective green areas into one larger area. After discussion of 5612 Buffalo Speedway, Mr. Lewis addressed the Board asking if a variance could and should be granted under the guidelines in which they can grant a variance for the consideration of 3803 Rice Boulevard. ~ Motion was made by Sharon Mathews, seconded by John Farrell, to deny the variance to Ordinance 1083 on the property located at 3803 Rice Boulevard.
