HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes 2019-16 Policy on Appointing and Reappointing Friends MembersCity of West University Place Harris County, Texas RESOLUTION NO. 2019 -16 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WE; UNIVERSITY PLACE, TEXAS, REVIEWING AND ADOPTING THE CITY ( WEST UNIVERSITY PLACE'S POLICY ON THE PROCESS TO APPOINT At REAPPOINT MEMBERS TO THE FRIENDS OF WEST UNIVERSITY PARI FUND BOARD WHEREAS, The Friends of West University Parks Fund (FWUPF) is corporation that has generated millions of dollars in funds and services to West U F the years; and WHEREAS, The FWUPF Executive Director and Board Members have a p vetting applicants for placement on the FWUPF Board and that process has pro' successful in the selection of dedicated Board members. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST UNIVERSIT` TEXAS: Section 1: That the City Council of the City of West University Place, reviewed the proposed policy for appointing board members to the FWUPF Board. Section 2: That the City Council of the City West University Place hereby Policy, which is attached hereto as Exhibit "A" and incorporated herein for all purposes. Section 2: This resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its p� the City Council of the City of West University Place. Gilliam May r Pro Tem Kevin Trau EXHIBIT A FRIENDS OF WEST UNIVERSITY PARKS FUND POLICY TO APPOINT AND REAPPOINT BOARD MEMBER The policy for the selection process to appoint volunteers desiring to serve on the West University Parks Fund Board is as follows. Appointments: 1. Applications are received by the Friends of West University Parks Fund Exec Director (Executive Director). 2. Executive Director reviews and validates the application and forwards qua applications to the Friends Board Executive Committee (Board Chair, Vice -C Secretary, Treasurer, Executive Director and Parks Director). 3. The Executive Committee reviews the application to determine whether the apps qualifies for an interview with the Interview Committee (Executive Director al minimum of two members of the Executive Committee). 4. The Interview Committee will interview recommended applicants and based upor results of the interview make a determination on whether to recommend an app/ for consideration by the City Council. 5. The City Council will consider recommended Friends Board applicants at a regular) scheduled meeting. At its discretion, the City Council may request the applicant to present at the meeting at which he/she is being appointed. Reappointments: Each position on the board is for a staggering three -year term. As the term of a boar) nears expiration, the process for reappointment is as follows: 1. The Executive Director of Friends evaluates the board member's contributions to during their term to determine if that member should be recommended to the Committee for reappointment. 2. The Executive Committee will review recommended reappointments and if the c agrees that the board member should be reappointed, the Executive Director will c board member to confirm their interest in continuing to serve. 3. If a board member desires to be reappointed, the Executive Director recommendation for reanpointment to City Cnuncil
