The Zor:ing Board of Adjzzstment convened. on Tuesday, October 13,
1970 7s3C p•m•. tirith the follo=~aing members presents Chairman
Rollis .Z~lal~?t, presiding; Members Floyd. Murphy, Torn Smith and.
Jess Sanford., The City Manager was present to assist in the
discussion as requested. by the Bo«.rd. Chairman.
Chairman ~~~~aldt announced. that a gzzorum was present any? opened..
~ the meeting; for discussion of matters scheduled. to appear on

~ Mr. and Mrs . ti~iar?°en Paine, Jr. , 351.5 Rice Boulevard., appeared.
~ before the Board and. revietaTed a request they 1^.ad made in a
~ letter dated. August 1.'~, l~?0, to retr!ove an existing; garage and.
build an accessory builr~ing cn thei~~ property, not to exceed.
560 square feet, w`i.~;hout kitchen, but ~ to ~.nc;lude a utility
room, house a deep free2e, iti~~.s::er, ~?.ryer and sink for laundry
use.
:after con~~idering Mr. ~.nd l~rv. Psiness request the Board.. decided.
not to apprave the request bw?t to recommend. that the Paines seek
advice of an architect to determine if the additional facilities
they desired. coulia, be incorpor,~.ted under a continous roof.
Mrs. J. Emerson Brown, 30?~ ?.'niversity, appeared and. presented.. a
request that trey be permitted, to ir~~tall a cs.rpor.t betuTeen their
existing house end n~ two-story garage apartment and. utilize the
garage apartment for use of their t~uro daughters, and. remodel the
existing first floor to include thr~ follo~~ings

Emerson Brown, 302 tJniversi.ty, be permitted. to construct a car-
port between their existing house acid a two-story garage apart-
ment ~.nd to renodel the garage apartment for use of their daugh-
ters subject to approval of the dra•~,ings by the Building Inspector
and the filing of an affidavit that the garage apartment will not
be used for con?nercial or rent purposes.
