SPECIAL MEETING OF ZONING BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT
MAY 25, 1964
The Zoning Board of Adjustment convened in special session at the City
Hall on Monday, May 25, 1964, 7:30 p.m., with the following members pres-
ent: Chairman 0. P. Gill, presiding; Members Snyder, Livermore and
Whenthoff. Alternate Member Reinhart was also .present. Mr. Haralson
was absent.
The Board met for the purpose of arriving at some conclusion as to the
adoption of Rules of Procedure for the Zoning Board of Adjustment. Each
of the Board members had been sent a copy of "Model Rules of Procedure
for a Zoning Board of Adjustment" and had studied these rules and made
notes of any recommended changes in the rules before adoption by this
Board.
It was not clear to the members of the Zoning Board of Adjustment the
exact procedure necessary toadopt Rules of Procedure for this Board.
The City Attorney advised the Board that he felt the City Commission
should hold a Public Hearing prior to the adoption of Rules, inasmuch
as the City Commission would be required to pass an ordinance adopting
the Rules of Procedure for the Board of Adjustment, or to give them the
authority to adopt their own Rules.
It was agreed that the Zoning Board of Adjustment was now prepared to
submit to the City Commission their recommendation for Rules of Proce-
dure of the Zoning Board of Adjustment, and that a typed work-copy of
their recommended rules should be submitted to the City Attorney and the
City Commission for their recommendations or any necessary revision in
wording.
Motion by Mr. Snyder, seconded by Mr. Whenthoff, that the typed copy of
the recommended Rules of Procedure for the Zoning Board of Adjustment be
transmitted to the City Attorney for any necessary changes in wording,
and that copies also be sent to the members of the City Commission for
any recommendations they might have.
Voting Aye: Chairman Gill, Members Snyder, Livermore and
Whenthoff.
Voting No: None
With no further business to come before the Board at this time, upon
motion duly made, seconded and carried, the meeting was adjourned.
