CITY OF WEST UNIV,ERSITY PLACE
REGIONAL DRAINAGE STUDY
WHEREAS, tIle collaborative regional study process initiated by Harris
COUl1ty Flood Control, West University Place, Southside Place, Bellaire alld HOUStOl1,
to identify potelltial drainage ilnprovemellts lleed.ed for Poor Farul and Kil111arnoclc
ditches has now been com'pleted, and;
WHEREAS, tIle res,pective Cities l1ave furtller idel1tified local concerl1S that
affect OIle or more stlldy grollp participants, tllat lleed to be addressed as :part of th.e
overall drainage plaIming process, and;
WHEREAS, tIle Cities of West University Place aIld Soutl1side Place have
identified draillage problelns NortIl of Bellaire Boulevard in tIle College Street Area
of West University Place atld tile Westerly portiol1 of SOlltllside Place, attributable to
inadeqllate capacity alld design, al1d;
WHEREAS, Harris COlUlty Flood COl1trol District wishes to proceed. wit11 a
I PrelimiIlary Engil1eering Stlldy to COl1sider all Ext.relne Evel1t draillage desigll, and;
WHEREAS, Harris COUl1ty Flood COlltrol is willing to fund. tIle Prelimillary
Engineering Study,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT,
TIle City COllncil of West University Place Sll.pports t11e Harris COllllty Flood Control
District's Preliminary El1gi11eering Stll.dy for tIle College Street Area ill West
University Place and tIle Westerll portion of Southside Place.
