Resolution No. 2004-14
A RESOLUTION APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING A LOCAL LAW
ENFORCEMENT BLOCK GRANT AND CONTAINING FINDINGS AND
PROVISIONS RELATING TO THE SUBJECT.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of West University Place, Texas (uGityJJ)
finds it in the best interest of the citizens of the City that the Police Video Replacement
Project be operated for 2004-2005; and
WHEREAS, the City agrees to provide applicable matching funds for said project
. as required by the focal law enforcement block grant fund grant application; and
WHEREAS, the City agrees that in the event of loss or misuse of the Criminar
Justice Division funds, the City of West University Place City CounciJ assures that the
funds will be returned to the Criminal Justice Division in full; and
WHEREAS, the City Council designates the City Manager of the City as the
grantee's authorized official; which authorized official is given the power to appry forI
accept, reject, alter or terminate the grant on behalf of the applicant agency;
NOW, THEREFORE~
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST
UNIVERSITY PLACE:
Section 1. For and on behalf of the City, the City Council hereby: (i) approves
and adopts the matters set out in the preamb'e of this resolution and <,i) approves and
authorizes submission of a grant application for the Police Video Replacement Project
to the Office of the Governor, Criminal Justice Division, of the State of Texas
Section 2. All resolutions and parts of resolutions in conflict with this resolution
are repealed to the extent of the conflict only. If any word, phrase, clause) sentence~
paragraph, section or other part of this resolution or the application thereof to any
person or circumstance, shall ever be held to be invalid or unconstitutional by any court
of competent jurisdiction, neither the remainder of this resolution, nor the application of
such word, phrasel clause, sentence, paragraph, section or other part of this resolution
to any other persons or circumstances, shall be affected thereby.
Section 3. The City Council officially finds, determines and declares that a
sufficient written notice of the date, hour] place and subject of each meeting at which
this resolution was discussed, considered or acted upon was given in the manner
required by the Texas Open Meetjngs Act, as amended} and that each such meeting
has been open to the public as required by law at all times during such discussion,
consideration and action. The City Council ratifies, approves and confirms such notices
and the contents and posting thereof.
Section 4. This resolution takes effect immediately upon its passage and
